Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, while replying to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha, spoke for the first time about the agreement with the United States.
Presenting his vision for the nation’s development, Modi said that past Congress prime ministers lacked a clear vision. His speech began amid loud protests from the opposition, which later staged a walkout.
During his address, the Prime Minister strongly criticised the Congress, Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and Left parties.
He also aimed at the policies of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Modi spoke for one hour and 27 minutes.
He remarked, “What kind of ‘shop of love’ is this that speaks of digging Modi’s grave? Is this not an insult to the dignity of public life? Congress will never be able to dig my grave.”
Modi further said that when India signed the trade deal with the European Union, it boosted global confidence in the prospects of stability.
