In a deeply disturbing incident in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a 48-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his 45-year-old wife in the presence of their 11-year-old daughter.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning inside their apartment at Ajnara Integrity Society in Raj Nagar Extension, under the jurisdiction of Nandgram police station.
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Vikas Sehrawat, had been living separately from his family for the past two months due to ongoing domestic disputes, primarily related to his unemployment and alleged alcohol addiction.
On the day of the incident, Sehrawat reportedly visited the apartment to collect his passport and Aadhaar card.
An argument ensued between him and his wife, Ruby, which escalated rapidly. In a fit of rage, Sehrawat allegedly shot Ruby in the kitchen, fatally wounding her in front of their younger daughter, Navya.
Their elder daughter, Kavya, had already left for school at the time of the incident.
Ruby was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. The younger daughter, who witnessed the tragic event, is currently in a state of shock and receiving psychological support.
The weapon used in the crime was found to be illegal, and an FIR for murder has been registered at the Nandgram police station.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend Vikas Sehrawat, who remains absconding.
Neighbors have reported that the couple had a history of domestic violence, with frequent disputes over financial issues and Sehrawat’s behavior.
This incident has highlighted the urgent need to address domestic violence and provide support to victims of such crimes.
