Trump Announces $5 Billion Gaza Reconstruction Push Under New ‘Board of Peace’ Initiative
US President Donald Trump on Sunday revealed that nations participating in a newly formed international body, called the Board of Peace, have collectively committed $5 billion for rebuilding the devastated Gaza Strip.
He said the contributions will be formally presented during the organisation’s inaugural meeting scheduled for Thursday in Washington, where member countries are expected to outline their respective roles.
Calling the platform historic, Trump stated in a social media post that the council could become one of the most influential global institutions and said he would serve as its chair.
Alongside financial commitments, participating nations are also expected to provide thousands of personnel for stabilisation and policing duties in the conflict-hit territory.
While Washington has not disclosed which countries will supply troops, Indonesia’s military confirmed it is preparing around 8,000 soldiers by June for a possible deployment.
The Board of Peace is envisioned as a multinational framework tasked with supervising Gaza’s political transition and reconstruction.
Trump first floated the idea last month during the World Economic Forum gathering in Davos, saying the effort aimed to end prolonged hardship in the region and potentially serve as a template for resolving other conflicts.
He expressed confidence that the initiative could eventually expand beyond Gaza, suggesting similar cooperation mechanisms might be applied elsewhere once the project succeeds.
Countries that agreed to participate
Israel, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Hungary, Albania, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Paraguay, United States
Countries that chose not to join
France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia, Italy
The announcement marks a significant diplomatic proposal, combining reconstruction aid with an international security presence — though details regarding operational structure and governance remain to be clarified at the upcoming meeting.
