Film producer Amit Jani, known for the controversial movie Udaipur Files, has alleged that he received an extortion threat demanding ₹5 crore from a man allegedly claiming to be linked to a Khalistani outfit.

The threat reportedly came through a WhatsApp call late Tuesday night from an Armenian phone number, followed by a voice message.

A senior police officer familiar with the investigation said the message contained a warning referencing Jani’s upcoming project.

In the purported audio note, the caller can be heard accusing Jani of ignoring his earlier demand:
“I asked you for ₹5 crore. You didn’t pay. But now you have money to make a film on Lawrence Bishnoi,” the voice allegedly said, suggesting a link to ongoing tensions surrounding Jani’s forthcoming film titled ‘Kala Hiran’.

According to sources, Jani stated in his police complaint that he is being targeted by an ‘anti-Bishnoi’ network due to the subject of his new film, which focuses on events leading up to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s threat to actor Salman Khan, following the blackbuck poaching incident.

The blackbuck is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community, intensifying sentiments around the storyline.

Jani, who already has Y-category CRPF security provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs after similar threats post the release of Udaipur Files in July, claimed that the caller also threatened to kill the security personnel deployed for his protection.

In his statement to the police, Jani said:
“I was returning to my home in Noida after visiting a temple in Chattarpur when I received the call.

The caller sent a voice message saying he would eliminate the CRPF jawans protecting me.

Haryana Police had earlier warned that Himanshu Bhau and Kaushal Chaudhary are targeting me, and I suspect this individual to be connected to them.”

A Delhi Police officer confirmed that a formal complaint has been received and the matter is under scrutiny.

A case is expected to be registered at the Malviya Nagar police station, and multiple investigative angles are being explored, including the origin of the international call and potential gang links.
