UGC NET conducted on June 18 cancelled by Education Ministry following inputs of paper leak:

The education ministry has announced cancellation of UGC- NET examination. The new examination dates will be announced soon. The examination conducted on June 18, has been cancelled following indication of paper leak.

The examination was held at 1,205 centres across the country but has been cancelled just a day after it was conducted.

The decision was reportedly taken after the National Testing Agency (NTA) received information of paper leakage.

Joint Secretary MoE Govind Jaiswal in a press conference said there were indication of  paper leak which appears to have compromised with the sanctity of examination following which the decision has been taken.

The issue has been referred to the CBI for probe and fresh examinations would be held soon dates for which would be notified.

The official added that the ministry of  education would not hesitate in taking action against whosoever were involved in this act of paper leakage as it involved future of lakhs of students in the country.

All this comes in the midst of NEET-UG- 2024 controversy that has reached the supreme court and is being heard. There are reports of a slolver gang involved in NEET examination and huge money is alleged to have been exchanged.

There have been country wide protests with students demonstrating placards demanding re examination of NEET examination.

If centre gives clean chit, it means nothing, their credibility is zero, says congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

A student Anurag Yadav, according to reports has  claimed in his confessional note that the NEET question paper given to him at the examination centre had completely matched with the paper he had bought earlier.

After the confession the Bihar police’s economic offences unit had started the probe and will submit report to the union education ministry soon.

Meanwhile, congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav gave hit out at the central government over its inability to hold fair examination that involves future of lakhs of students.
