UK University Announces ₹10 Lakh Scholarship for Indian Students—But Is It the Right Time Amid Global Uncertainty?

The University of East Anglia (UEA) has introduced the Vice Chancellor’s Global Impact and Leadership Scholarship for Indian applicants planning to begin postgraduate programmes in September 2026.

Under this initiative, selected candidates will receive a tuition fee concession of £10,000 (approximately ₹10 lakh) for eligible postgraduate taught courses.

Application Requirements and Selection Process

Applicants are required to undergo a competitive selection process, which includes submitting detailed written responses to three key prompts:

Submissions will be evaluated by academic panels in March and June 2026, with shortlisted candidates being notified soon after each review cycle. The final deadline for applications has been set for June 26, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to students from multiple regions, including Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Australia. However, Indian applicants must meet specific conditions:

• Must hold Indian citizenship
• Should have received either a conditional or confirmed admission offer for an eligible postgraduate programme
• Must be classified as an international fee-paying student
• Should have secured, or be expected to secure, an academic qualification equivalent to a UK upper second-class (2:1) degree

Additionally, the grant is applicable only to selected courses and cannot be combined with most other UEA scholarships, except for the International Early Payment Award.

Students whose entire tuition fees are funded by government sponsorships or external agencies are not eligible, though those relying on education loans can still apply.
