Unity Is Our Shield: Hindu Society Must Prepare and Stand Together, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Mathura: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that “asuric forces” cannot cause lasting harm, but cautioned that society is still not as prepared as it ought to be.

Stressing the power of unity, he said that once Hindus stand together, such destructive forces will collapse on their own.

“Hindu society has never been defeated by the bravery, valour, or strength of others,” Bhagwat said.

“Whenever defeat has occurred, it has been because of internal divisions.” He underlined that the country today urgently needs a discrimination-free India.

The RSS chief was speaking as the chief guest at a grand religious gathering held at Shri Nabha Peeth Sudama Kuti, located at Vanshivat, on the occasion of the 726th birth anniversary celebrations of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Maharaj, along with the centenary celebrations marking the arrival of Sudama Kuti’s founder, Mahant Sudama Das Maharaj, in Vrindavan.

The multi-day religious festivities are being observed in the Kumbh Mela area and will continue until January 21.

Bhagwat said that asuric forces have already become hollow from within and have faced defeat across the world.

“Their anguish has now come to the notice of the entire world,” he said, adding that it is equally true that as followers of Sanatan Dharma and members of Hindu society continue to unite, their collective strength will keep growing.

He emphasised that unity must be built on the foundation of devotion.

“By embracing everyone as our own through bhakti, we will become stronger,” he said.

He called upon people to move forward guided by the power of devotion and sattvic (pure) strength, and to resolve to bring the teachings of saints into their daily conduct, and to faithfully live by them.

Bhagwat expressed confidence that if society continues on this inclusive path, India will, within the next 20 to 30 years, emerge as a Vishwaguru—a nation that offers the world a new way of life rooted in peace, happiness, and harmony.

RSS Chief Releases Souvenir Booklet

In the presence of revered saints, RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat also released the introductory booklet of Sudama Kuti.

From the stage, spiritual leaders and scholars, including Sadhvi Rithambara, Swami Gyananand, Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, Vasu Devanand, Kumar Swami, Mahant Rajendra Das, Mahant Balram Das, Dr Manoj Mohan Shastri, Ram Kripal Tripathi, Ramkrishna Acharya, Ramsharan Das, Gauri Shankar Das, and Ishwar Chandra Das Maharaj, shared their thoughts.

Earlier in the day, a magnificent procession was taken out in the town amid great enthusiasm.

Deities of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Janaki, and Hanuman were enthroned on flower-decorated palanquins.

Accompanied by devotional tunes from bands, saints and devotees from various parts of the country walked together, singing and dancing in celebration.

On this occasion, Nabha Peethadhishwar Mahant Sutikshna Das Maharaj, Mahant Amar Das, and several other dignitaries were present.

Reiterating his message, Bhagwat said once again that India today needs to be free from all forms of discrimination.

He observed that the world does not yet see India as fully united because of divisions based on language, caste, and sect.

“The time has come,” he said, “that however many ways the world sees Hindus as different, I should have friends among Hindus of all those kinds.”

He stressed the importance of moving forward with the ideology of Kutumb Prabodhan—awakening a sense of family and collective responsibility.

“We must pass on our country’s traditions to the next generation,” he said, adding that children in every household must be taught about India’s cultural and civilisational heritage.
