UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya Targets Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav, Predicts BJP Victory in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and UP 2027
Maurya Confident of BJP’s Expanding Political Footprint Across India
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched a sharp political attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav during his two-day visit to the city beginning Friday.
Addressing mediapersons at the helipad in Police Lines and later at the Circuit House, Maurya expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will achieve significant electoral success in several upcoming state elections across the country.
Taking a direct swipe at Mamata Banerjee, Maurya asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) would not be able to retain power in West Bengal in the Assembly elections scheduled for May.
He stated that political conditions in the state were changing rapidly and the BJP was gaining strong public support, which would translate into electoral success.
Maurya further expressed optimism regarding the BJP’s performance in southern states as well.
He claimed that the party would put up an impressive showing in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, states where the BJP has traditionally faced stiff competition but has been steadily expanding its organizational reach.
BJP Set for Third Consecutive Term in Assam, Claims Maurya
Highlighting the party’s strong presence in the Northeast, Maurya confidently predicted that the BJP would form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term.
He described the BJP’s governance model as development-oriented and said that the electorate in Assam continues to repose faith in the party’s leadership.
Turning his focus to Uttar Pradesh, Maurya declared that the BJP would once again form the government in the state in the 2027 Assembly elections.
He remarked that the Samajwadi Party’s political relevance in the state had significantly diminished and alleged that the opposition party was gradually losing public trust.
Taking a dig at Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya said the Samajwadi Party chief should “stop daydreaming” about returning to power in Uttar Pradesh.
He claimed that after the 2027 election results, Samajwadi Party legislators would have no option but to accept the verdict of the people.
Maurya Counters Allegations on Women’s Welfare and Governance
Responding to allegations made by Akhilesh Yadav regarding the BJP’s commitment to women’s welfare, Maurya rejected the criticism and asserted that the BJP has consistently worked towards empowering women through various policy initiatives.
He pointed out that the BJP government introduced measures aimed at increasing women’s participation in education and social development.
Referring to the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative launched in 2014, Maurya said the programme has played a crucial role in improving awareness about girl child education and women’s rights.
According to him, such policy measures demonstrate the party’s commitment to social reform and gender equality.
Maurya also responded to recent allegations by Akhilesh Yadav concerning the procurement of 60,000 injection syringes by Noida District Hospital, allegedly meant for cattle.
Questioning the basis of the claim, Maurya remarked that Yadav appeared to be assuming the role of a journalist by making such assertions. He stated that if any irregularity is found in procurement procedures, appropriate action would certainly be taken.
Remarks on Political Conduct and Social Harmony
Commenting on Akhilesh Yadav’s reported displeasure over certain party leaders attending the wedding ceremony of Sambhal Superintendent of Police with IPS officer Anshika Varma of Prayagraj, Maurya described the reaction as reflective of narrow political thinking.
He emphasized that social occasions such as marriages transcend political affiliations, caste, and religious identities.
According to Maurya, attending such events is a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect that strengthens social harmony.
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the BJP remains confident about its political future in Uttar Pradesh and other states due to what he described as strong governance, development initiatives, and public support.
His remarks come at a time when political parties have begun intensifying preparations for upcoming Assembly elections in several key states, setting the stage for a competitive electoral landscape in the coming years.
