UP Farmer Shoots Video Of His murder, Shot Dead Amid Boundary Dispute — His Own Phone Captures the Fatal Moment
In a chilling, rarest of rare incident in the Paraur police station area of Shahjahanpur district, 38-year-old farmer Arvesh Yadav was gunned down in his field on Wednesday afternoon, minutes after reportedly starting a 27-second video on his mobile phone that captured his murder.
According to police sources, the tragic confrontation stemmed from a boundary wall dispute between Arvesh’s family and their neighbours.
Arvesh, a resident of Usawa village in Badaun district, and his brothers Dharmendra and Ramveer had gone to their field situated across the district border.
There, they found their neighbours, Kallu and his brother Sonu, dismantling the boundary wall of the adjoining plot.
When the Yadav brothers objected, Kallu and Sonu allegedly began abusing them, left, then returned around 3 pm with a third man.
At the time of the renewed confrontation, Arvesh was seated near a tubewell some 70 metres from his brothers, reportedly watching reels on his phone.
Sensing mounting tension, he is said to have discreetly turned on his camera to record events.
The video reportedly shows Kallu pulling a pistol from his waistband and shooting Arvesh in the chest. Arvesh collapsed immediately; the accused fled the spot on a motorcycle.
Arvesh was rushed by his brothers and locals to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead.
The next day, when his family reviewed his phone, they discovered the recording of the fatal sequence and shared it with the police, making the footage a key piece of evidence in the case.
A murder case has been registered at the Paraur police station against Kallu, his brother Sonu and one unidentified person under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Police have launched search operations through multiple teams in the area to trace and apprehend all involved. No arrests have been reported so far.
Arvesh leaves behind his wife and five young children.
His family and the local community are deeply shaken: they say he was a peaceful man, caught up in a land dispute he jointly farmed with his brothers, and that this senseless violence might have been avoided had the boundary disagreement been addressed earlier.
The incident has again highlighted how small land- or boundary-related quarrels in rural areas can escalate into deadly violence.
Observers say there is an urgent need for timely intervention by local authorities and police in preventing such escalations before they turn fatal.
