UP Police’s Yaksh Application Aids in Tracing Murder Suspect and Cracking Vehicle Theft Ring
In a notable boost to tech-driven policing, the Uttar Pradesh Police’s newly introduced Yaksh mobile application has proven instrumental in solving serious criminal cases, enabling officers to track down a fugitive murder suspect and dismantle an organised vehicle theft syndicate in separate districts, officials reported.
According to authorities, the digital platform played a crucial role in locating an absconding individual accused of a homicide case in Firozabad.
By comparing his altered present-day look with previously recorded images, the system successfully established his identity.
The accused, identified as Sanoj Singh, had allegedly been attempting to evade arrest by disguising his appearance, police sources said.
Officials further stated that a non-bailable warrant had already been issued against Singh in connection with a murder case registered at the Linepar police station.
Using the application’s facial recognition and verification features, law enforcement personnel confirmed his identity and subsequently apprehended him. He was later presented before a court on Sunday, a police representative confirmed.
In another development, the Rae Bareli police utilised the same application to expose a gang involved in stealing vehicles.
The case came to light after authorities received a complaint regarding the theft of a Scorpio SUV on February 16.
Investigators deployed the application to map and analyse footage from multiple CCTV cameras installed across the area.
Through sustained monitoring and tracking, police managed to identify and arrest the prime suspect, Pradeep, along with his associates on Monday.
During the operation, officers recovered five stolen vehicles along with an additional car that had allegedly been used in carrying out the crimes, officials added.
