UP Unveils Grand Tourism Vision: Gautam Buddha Nagar to Emerge as India’s Urban, Experiential, and Industrial Powerhouse
The Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out an ambitious blueprint to transform Gautam Buddha Nagar into a model for Urban and Experiential Tourism under the Center’s ‘One State, One Global Destination’ initiative — a move that reflects the state’s rapid march toward becoming not just a tourism magnet but also a leading industrial and economic hub.
At the Tourism Ministers’ Conference in Udaipur, held on Wednesday and Thursday, Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh presented the detailed proposal along with plans for two other heritage-rich destinations.
The state’s vision aims to position Gautam Buddha Nagar as a global destination combining MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, medical and wellness travel, and eco-awareness initiatives.
According to officials, the proposal highlights the creation of a 100-acre hospitality hub near Noida’s IT City through private sector partnerships.
A state-of-the-art convention center with a capacity of 1,000 people will be built to host global summits, trade expos, and public awareness programs.
The district will also see the development of a Climate Change Museum near the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, designed to offer an interactive and immersive experience focused on environmental education.
The government’s strategy also focuses on enhancing medical tourism by expanding premium healthcare and wellness facilities.
Combined with the district’s proximity to Delhi and its world-class connectivity through expressways and airports, the project promises to turn Noida–Greater Noida into a hub for both business and leisure tourism.
Officials underscored that this initiative marks a shift from Uttar Pradesh’s traditional image as a spiritual tourism destination toward a modern, sustainable, and globally competitive tourism ecosystem.
In addition to Gautam Buddha Nagar, the government has drawn up detailed proposals for Kalinjar Fort and Siddharthnagar (for Buddhist tourism) under the same scheme.
However, Gautam Buddha Nagar has been prioritized in the first phase, symbolizing the state’s readiness to lead India’s new tourism frontier.
“Uttar Pradesh is making fast strides not only as a land of cultural and spiritual heritage but also as a future-ready industrial and tourism hub,” said Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Amrit Abhijat.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh added, “Our plan for Gautam Buddha Nagar embodies the vision of a new Uttar Pradesh — dynamic, innovative, and globally connected.
This district will showcase how the state is evolving into the most prosperous region of India in the years to come.”
