US–Israel–Iran Conflict: Diplomatic Signals Emerge as Hormuz Tensions Persist

In the ongoing confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, US President Donald Trump stated that recent talks between Washington and Tehran over the past two days were “constructive and encouraging,” suggesting possible diplomatic progress toward reducing tensions in West Asia.

Trump has reportedly directed the US defence authorities to postpone any planned attacks on Iranian power generation and energy facilities for a period of five days, indicating a temporary pause in escalation.

Meanwhile, two additional LPG vessels carrying the Indian flag have commenced their voyage towards India and are expected to pass through the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.

Ship monitoring data indicates that the tankers have departed from the Gulf region and are currently heading toward Indian ports.

Iran’s Defence Council has warned that it may deploy naval mines throughout the Persian Gulf in the event of a ground offensive, according to international media reports.

At the same time, the Iranian Embassy in India dismissed reports claiming that ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz were being charged a fee of $2 million, calling such claims unfounded and not representative of Iran’s official stance.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of reducing hostilities, stating that the priority should remain on calming the situation through coordinated diplomatic efforts.

He noted that while the UK will safeguard its interests, it does not intend to become directly involved in the conflict.

According to reports, two Indian LPG carriers — Jag Vasant and Pine Gas — are currently navigating the Strait of Hormuz via a route approved by Iranian authorities, which runs close to Iran’s coastline.

Iran has also claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks targeting the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, as stated by a spokesperson from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command.

Regional tensions intensified after Iran warned that it could shut down the Strait of Hormuz entirely and strike key energy and desalination infrastructure across the region if the United States proceeds with strikes on Iranian power installations.

This warning followed a 48-hour ultimatum issued by President Trump, who demanded that Iran ensure uninterrupted passage through the Strait, cautioning that failure to comply could result in extensive strikes on Iran’s power infrastructure, beginning with its largest facilities.

In response, Israel launched missile strikes targeting locations in Tehran, marking another phase of escalation in the conflict.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, stated that military operations would continue until Iran’s offensive capabilities are neutralized, asserting that Israel cannot tolerate continued attacks from Tehran.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated that any further aggression would provoke direct retaliation.

He also warned that attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure could lead to a complete shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments.
