Lucknow: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Lucknow on Saturday to participate in events commemorating the 76th Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh.

He was received by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as the state observed the milestone with official ceremonies honouring its rich history, culture, and evolving identity.

The celebrations reflected both remembrance and renewal, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s civilisational depth while also focusing on its changing development narrative in contemporary India.

Prime Minister’s Message: From BIMARU Tag to Growth Leader

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh, lauding their contribution to India’s cultural heritage and national progress.

In a message shared on social media, Modi said the state had undergone a remarkable transformation over the past nine years.

He noted that Uttar Pradesh has successfully shed its long-associated BIMARU image to emerge as a strong and consistent performer on multiple development indicators.

Congratulating the people of the state, the Prime Minister said their participation and collective resolve had played a central role in this turnaround.

Modi underlined that Uttar Pradesh’s growth is critical to sustaining India’s overall development momentum.

He attributed the state’s progress to public participation and the “double-engine” governance model, expressing confidence that Uttar Pradesh’s vast potential would continue to energise the nation’s journey forward.

Yogi Adityanath Highlights ‘Decisive Transformation’

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Uttar Pradesh’s journey as one marked by decisive and visible change.

He said the state had moved from being perceived as a bottleneck to becoming a breakthrough story in India’s development narrative.

According to the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh has transitioned from a revenue-deficit state to a revenue-surplus one, and from a phase marked by disruption to one of celebration and confidence.

He credited improvements in law and order, large-scale infrastructure expansion, and sustained economic reforms for positioning the state as a key engine of national growth.

Adityanath added that Uttar Pradesh today stands as a symbol of stability and opportunity, with its progress increasingly shaping India’s broader economic and social trajectory.

A State Rooted in Civilisation and Faith

Uttar Pradesh observes its Foundation Day on January 24, marking the renaming of the former United Provinces in 1950, just two days before the adoption of the Indian Constitution.

The state is deeply embedded in India’s civilisational story, nurtured by sacred rivers such as the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saryu.

It is home to some of the country’s most important spiritual and cultural centres, including Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mathura, Vrindavan, Prayagraj, and Sarnath.

As Uttar Pradesh marks 76 years since its formation, the celebrations underscore a renewed narrative—one that blends ancient heritage with modern ambition, positioning the state as a central pillar in India’s evolving growth story.
