Uttar Pradesh Transforming Potential into Performance: CM Yogi Adityanath at Ashok Leyland EV Plant Inauguration

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday asserted that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a state that is steadily converting limitless possibilities into tangible results.

He said that for years the state was deliberately maligned for political gains, but the sweeping transformation witnessed over the past eight to eight-and-a-half years has completely altered its image and direction.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant of Ashok Leyland in Sarojini Nagar, on the outskirts of Lucknow.

He described the new facility as a strong reflection of the growing trust of industries and global investors in Uttar Pradesh.

CM Yogi announced that the state government will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ashok Leyland to connect around 10,000 youth with structured skill development programmes.

He underlined that employment-oriented training remains a key pillar of the government’s development agenda.

Highlighting the significance of the project, the Chief Minister said the plant is part of the state’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Fortune-500-focused industrial policy, aimed at attracting globally reputed companies.

He congratulated the Hinduja Group—the promoters of Ashok Leyland—and thanked the Hinduja family for reposing faith in Uttar Pradesh’s governance and policy framework.

The Chief Minister informed that the newly inaugurated EV unit currently has the capacity to manufacture 2,500 electric buses annually, which will be expanded in a phased manner to 5,000 units per year.

He noted that the plant would play a crucial role in strengthening green mobility and reducing carbon emissions, in line with national and global sustainability goals.

CM Yogi further said that the EV manufacturing facility has opened up vast employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

Thousands of direct and indirect jobs are expected to be generated, giving a major boost to the local economy and reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s position as a preferred destination for advanced manufacturing and clean technology investments.

He concluded by stating that Uttar Pradesh is no longer defined by its past challenges but by its future-ready infrastructure, investor-friendly policies, and its resolve to become one of India’s leading growth engines.
