Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna Begin Married Life with Sacred Ritual in Telangana Village
Fresh from their wedding celebrations, newly married actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna made a heartfelt visit to Vijay’s native village, Thummanpet, in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana, where they performed the revered Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham at their newly constructed farmhouse.
The occasion marked their first appearance in the village after exchanging vows last week.
Rashmika chose a rich navy silk saree accented with copper tones for the visit, while Vijay opted for a soft pastel green kurta.
Videos circulating online show the couple receiving a traditional welcome from an elderly village woman.
In other clips, local performers can be seen dancing outside the residence, which was beautifully adorned with floral arrangements and illuminated décor to celebrate the newlyweds’ arrival.
For the puja ceremony, both changed into customary white and red outfits. Surrounded by Vijay’s family members, including his brother Anand Deverakonda, the couple participated in the ritual as priests conducted the proceedings.
The ceremony symbolised their first spiritual offering together as husband and wife.
The Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham is a cherished Hindu observance prevalent across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
Dedicated to Lord Satyanarayana—an incarnation of Lord Vishnu—the ritual is commonly performed on auspicious occasions such as weddings, housewarmings, childbirth celebrations, festivals, and full moon days.
It includes the recitation of the Satyanarayana Katha from the Skanda Purana, followed by the preparation and distribution of prasad, often a sweet mixture made from wheat flour, jaggery, bananas, and milk, known as Panchamrit.
Devotees believe the ritual invites prosperity, harmony, and divine grace into the household.
Conducting it after marriage or moving into a new home is a long-standing custom in Telugu and South Indian traditions, signifying a blessed beginning.
The village community turned out in large numbers to greet the couple, performing customary rites before accompanying them into their farmhouse. Admirers also gathered outside, hoping for a glimpse of the pair.
After the ceremony, the couple hosted a grand community meal for more than 2,000 villagers.
Their visit to Thummanpet followed a stop at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam temple in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, where they offered prayers and distributed sweets to well-wishers.
Vijay and Rashmika were married on February 26 in Udaipur in a ceremony blending Telugu and Kodava customs.
Their Hyderabad reception, scheduled for March 4, will be a private, invitation-only affair, organised with guidance from local authorities due to security and traffic considerations amid overwhelming public enthusiasm.
