“We Will Break the Backbone of the Copying Mafia Too”: CM Yogi’s Blunt Reply in the Assembly on Supplementary Budget

Lucknow: Responding to the debate on the supplementary budget in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Yogi Adityanath delivered a sharp and uncompromising address.
Launching a direct attack on the opposition — particularly the Samajwadi Party — while reiterating his government’s zero-tolerance approach towards mafia, illegal encroachments, and examination-related crimes.
The Chief Minister asserted that whenever government land is illegally occupied and individuals like “Chhangur” misuse such encroachments to carry out immoral or unlawful activities, the administration will not hesitate to deploy bulldozers.
Drawing a parallel with his government’s crackdown on organised crime, he declared that just as the backbone of the land mafia has been broken, the backbone of the “copying mafia” (exam cheating rackets) will also be decisively broken.
Targeting Opposition Silence on Persecution of Hindus Abroad
Aiming at both the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress, the Chief Minister accused the opposition of selective outrage.
He said that while these parties shed tears and organise protests and candle marches over issues like the Gaza Strip, they remain conspicuously silent when Hindus and Sikhs are subjected to violence in Bangladesh or Pakistan.
CM Yogi specifically referred to the killing of a Dalit Hindu youth in Bangladesh, stating that not a single word of condemnation came from the opposition benches. “In Gaza, you cry and march with candles.
But when a Dalit Hindu is murdered in Bangladesh, your tongues fall silent,” he said, accusing the opposition of viewing the Dalit community merely as a vote bank.
Supplementary Budget Passed After CM’s Reply
The Chief Minister was replying to questions raised by opposition members during the discussion on the supplementary budget on Wednesday.
Following his response, the supplementary budget was passed by the Legislative Assembly and subsequently received approval from the Legislative Council as well.
“Every Daughter Will Get Justice, No Matter What”
Addressing concerns about justice and law enforcement, the Chief Minister said that examples of how justice is delivered are already before the public. He cited the Pooja Pal case as a clear demonstration.
“In your time, bowing before the mafia was a compulsion.
Today, this government has made it absolutely clear that no matter which side a daughter belongs to, she will get justice under all circumstances,” he said.
He emphasised that this was not merely a matter of political power or opposition but a question of the security, dignity, and honour of the state.
Reforming the Copying Mafia Is Our Responsibility
Referring to the case of Vijma Yadav mentioned in the House, the Chief Minister assured that justice would be delivered in that case as well.
He stated that the habits and networks of the copying mafia had flourished under previous governments, but reforming and dismantling them was now the responsibility of the present administration.
CM Yogi reiterated that any mafia or antisocial element found encroaching upon government land or engaging in immoral activities would face the strictest possible action. “There will be no compromise.
Law will take its course,” he said.
Opposition’s Silence Exposes Politics of Appeasement: CM
Returning to the issue of violence against Hindus abroad, the Chief Minister said that the opposition’s silence on the murder of a Dalit youth in Bangladesh exposes its politics of appeasement.
“Your tongues are tied when Hindus are killed in Bangladesh or Pakistan, but you rush to the streets over Gaza. This is your reality,” he charged.
He went on to say that such appeasement politics had historical consequences, arguing that the creation of Bangladesh and Pakistan itself was rooted in such divisive policies.
“If Bangladesh and Pakistan had not been created, Hindus would not have been burnt in this manner.
And if someone tried to do so, they would have known what their fate would be,” he said, asserting that security and protection of citizens remain a core guarantee of the Indian state.
