White-Collar Terror Cell Exposed: AK-47 Seized from Lucknow Lady Doctor, More Arrests Likely
A female doctor residing in Lucknow — reported in several news outlets as Dr Shaheen Shahid — has been arrested in a sweeping multi-state counter-terror operation that spanned Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Her vehicle reportedly contained an AK-47-style rifle, and following her arrest, she was flown to Srinagar for custodial interrogation.
She is the third medical professional to be apprehended in this investigation, joining Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie (a Kashmiri doctor working in Faridabad) and Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather (picked up at a hospital in Saharanpur).
Authorities say they form part of a sophisticated “white-collar” terror module allegedly aligned with the banned organisations Jaish‑e‑Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat‑ul‑Hind (AGuH).
During the 15-day coordinated operation, security forces reported seizing around 2,900 kg of explosive and bomb-making material, along with rifles, pistols, ammunition, timers, wires, and electronic circuitry.
The module is believed to have spanned multiple states, with encrypted communications and foreign contacts (including Pakistani numbers) uncovered, signaling a transnational dimension.
According to investigators, the network utilised educated professionals — doctors and academics — to handle logistics and recruitment, often masking their activities under academic or charitable façades.
Their role extended beyond mere support: the infrastructure for weapon procurement and the manufacture of explosives appears to have been embedded in this professional façade.
Latest updates show that the probe remains active: further arrests are expected, investigations into encrypted chats and financial trails continue, and forensic examination of the seized material is ongoing.
Authorities say this case underscores a rising trend of “white-collar” terror involvement — in which individuals with advanced education and professional status play key roles in high-end terror logistics.
