Woman Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances in Prayagraj: Family Alleges Murder

Prayagraj: In an alarming incident, a woman was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in the Sadwa Kala locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Industrial Area Police Station.
The woman, identified as Arti, was discovered dead in her home on Thursday morning. While her in-laws have claimed that she died by suicide, her family has raised serious allegations, asserting that she was murdered and later hanged to make it appear as a case of suicide.
According to preliminary information, Arti was married to Sonu Hela, who resides near the ITI area within the same police jurisdiction.
Sources revealed that around three years ago, Sonu had eloped with Arti, the daughter of Raj Kumar Sahu, a resident of the same locality. The couple married shortly after eloping and had been living together. They also have a one-year-old son.
On the morning of the incident, Arti was found hanging from the ceiling of her room with a saree. Heartbreakingly, their infant son was found clinging to her lifeless body, crying inconsolably.
This tragic image added to the emotional gravity of the scene and raised concerns among neighbors and relatives who had gathered at the spot.
Sonu has claimed that Arti took her own life by hanging herself. He stated that he discovered her dead and immediately informed the police.
However, this narrative has been strongly refuted by Arti’s parents and close family members. They have alleged that her husband and possibly other members of his family are responsible for her death.
According to them, Arti had not been in contact with them for the past two days, and her mobile phone had been switched off during this period, which they found highly suspicious.
Moreover, the presence of burn marks on Arti’s left hand has further fueled doubts about the suicide theory.
Her family believes these injuries point toward possible physical abuse or torture before her death. They insist that Arti was killed and her body was hanged to fabricate a story of suicide and cover up the crime.
Responding to the serious allegations and the suspicious nature of the case, the local police acted swiftly. A team comprising officers from the Industrial Area Police Station, accompanied by a dog squad and forensic experts, reached the scene to gather evidence and conduct a thorough investigation.
The body was sent for a postmortem examination, which authorities say will play a crucial role in determining the cause and manner of death.
The Station In-charge of the Industrial Area Police Station, Kushal Kumar Tewari, assured the media and public that a fair and detailed investigation is underway.
“We are awaiting the postmortem report, and all necessary steps are being taken. The truth will come out, and appropriate legal action will follow based on the findings,” he stated.
As the case continues to unfold, it has stirred considerable unrest and concern in the local community. The possibility of domestic violence, coupled with the tragic image of a young child beside his deceased mother, has left residents demanding justice and a transparent inquiry.
