LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued firm directions that women’s safety must be ensured at two levels — internal and external.

He stressed that efforts must be made within families and society to create such a secure environment that women are able to speak their minds freely and fearlessly, even inside their own homes.

Addressing senior police officers, the Chief Minister said that security in public spaces must be further strengthened through Anti-Romeo Squads and women police beats.

He noted that women today increasingly feel secure, calling this a major achievement of the Uttar Pradesh Police.

These instructions were issued during the ‘Police Manthan’ programme — a conference of senior police officials organised to bring qualitative improvements in the functioning of the state police.

Significantly, this was the first time in the history of Uttar Pradesh Police that a Chief Minister remained present throughout the entire day-long conference.

Mission Shakti will succeed through inter-departmental coordination

During the conference, while reviewing Mission Shakti, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on the training of women police personnel.

He said that proper training would enable them to work in the field with greater confidence and effectiveness.

He underlined that the success of Mission Shakti has not been achieved by police efforts alone.

Rather, it has been made possible through close coordination among all related departments, shared responsibility, and continuous dialogue.

He advised women police personnel to maintain regular interaction with women at the local level, stating that sustained communication is essential to strengthen trust and improve safety outcomes.

Link village chowkidars with the police beat system

In the first session of Police Manthan, police officers presented their views on strengthening the village-level security mechanism.

Responding to this, the Chief Minister directed that chowkidars deployed at the gram panchayat level should be effectively integrated with the police beat system.

He pointed out that village chowkidars possess detailed knowledge of the entire social structure of their villages.

Their active involvement, he said, would help in preventing crime and ensuring the timely flow of information to the police.

Systematically linking them with police beats would provide new strength to grassroots-level security arrangements across the state.
