Yogi Adityanath’s Stern Warning Ahead of Diwali: “Jail Awaits Those Who Disturb Festivities”

LUCKNOW: Issuing a strong message just days before Diwali, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned that anyone attempting to disrupt the peace and festive spirit in the state would be swiftly jailed.

He also delivered a chilling caution to those harassing women, declaring that “Yamraj” — the God of Death — would be waiting for them.

The CM made these remarks while distributing free LPG cylinders to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, an initiative to ensure clean cooking fuel for poor households, ahead of the festival season.

Adityanath’s address was a mix of assurance and warning — a promise of protection for law-abiding citizens and an uncompromising stance against troublemakers.

“If anyone tries to spoil the mood of Diwali or causes any disturbance, prison bars are waiting for them,” he thundered. “Whoever it may be — it won’t take long to throw them behind bars.”

“Yamraj Will Cut the Ticket” — Warning to Harassers

In one of his sharpest remarks of the evening, the Chief Minister turned his focus to women’s safety.

“If anyone dares to harass a woman or play with her dignity, Yamraj will be waiting at the next crossroads to cut your ticket,” Adityanath said, adding that only the UP government has the resolve to act with such strictness.

His choice of words — symbolic yet fear-inducing — drew cheers from the audience and reflected his government’s “zero tolerance” policy on crimes against women.

Taking Aim at the Opposition

Without naming them directly, Adityanath took veiled digs at the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its leadership.

He accused the previous regime of shielding criminals and mafia elements, alleging that “before 2017, even the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh would bow before goons, rioters, and the mafia.”

He further said that under the SP’s rule, “the poor could not celebrate festivals with joy, while the mafia, under political patronage, spread fear and chaos across districts.”

“In contrast,” he said, “the BJP government treats the entire state as its family — not just one household or clan.” He reiterated that his administration stands firmly against parivarwad (dynastic politics), focusing instead on governance and security.

Festivals for All, But Without Chaos

Touching upon the issue of public processions and religious displays, Adityanath remarked that over the past eight years, festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Ram Navami, Eid, Christmas, and Guru Parv have been celebrated peacefully across Uttar Pradesh.

“Everyone has the right to celebrate their festival as per their faith,” he said, “but these celebrations should not spill onto the roads or disrupt public life.”

His statement was widely seen as a veiled reference to recent “I Love Mohammad” demonstrations that had stirred debate on freedom of expression and religious display in public spaces.

A Government That Speaks the Language of Law

Asserting his government’s firm hand in maintaining law and order, Adityanath declared, “This government does not bow before rioters.

Yeh sarkar jo jis bhasha mein samjhega, usi bhasha mein samjhana jaanti hai — this government knows how to respond in the language miscreants understand.”

He assured that under the BJP government, no criminal, rioter, or harasser would be spared — and that peace and order would not be compromised at any cost.

A Call for Swadeshi Spirit

Ending his address on a note of cultural pride, Adityanath appealed to citizens to embrace “Swadeshi” diyas and idols, urging them to support local artisans during the festival season.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to uplifting the underprivileged, including Dalits, backward classes, and economically weaker sections, ensuring that Diwali’s light reaches every home in Uttar Pradesh.

“Let this Diwali be about unity, security, and pride in our own tradition,” he said, amid thunderous applause.
