The victims were part of a large group returning to Fatehpur district after attending a religious head tonsuring (mundan) ceremony of a child at the Sangam in Prayagraj.
According to police officials, more than three dozen people, including women, children and elderly relatives, were travelling together in the pickup vehicle when the accident occurred.
