Diljit Dosanjh Delhi Concert: Police Tighten Security, Traffic Restrictions Around JLN Stadium
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has stepped up security arrangements for Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium on Friday, with plainclothes personnel deployed around the performer and additional precautions planned at his hotel amid concerns over the event’s security.
Officials said the singer will be protected by a coordinated team comprising his personal security staff, private guards hired for the concert and police personnel operating in plain clothes.
Security has also been strengthened at the hotel where Dosanjh is staying.
Concert organisers have been instructed to keep sensitive information about the singer’s movements confidential.
Details of his accommodation, the vehicle being used for transportation, and his expected arrival time are not to be circulated, officials said.
The singer has also been advised to leave the stadium soon after his performance to avoid complications arising from the large gathering expected at the venue.
Police are keeping a close watch on social media activity and intelligence inputs to identify any potential security concerns and respond accordingly.
The concert is scheduled to begin between 7.30 pm and 8 pm and is expected to conclude at approximately 10 pm.

Major traffic restrictions around JLN Stadium
Delhi Traffic Police has announced restrictions and diversions in the vicinity of JLN Stadium and neighbouring roads from 1 pm until midnight on Friday.
Motorists have been advised to avoid affected stretches wherever possible and allow additional time for their journeys.
Roads and stretches likely to be affected include Bhisham Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Archbishop Makarios Marg, 4th Avenue Road, 5th Avenue Road, roads within the CGO Complex and Lodhi Colony, as well as the area around JLN Stadium.
Traffic movement on Barapullah Flyover between the INA and Jangpura Metro Station Gate No. 2 area may also be affected.
Dayal Singh College Road and adjoining routes are among the stretches covered by the advisory.
The traffic police have outlined the following arrangements:
- Lodhi Road: Traffic will be allowed between the Lodhi Flyover signal and Aurobindo Marg. However, vehicles will not be permitted to proceed along Dayal Singh College Road beyond the designated diversion point.
- Lala Lajpat Rai Marg–JLN Marg junction: Vehicles will be redirected towards Lodhi Flyover.
- Soochna Bhawan approach: Traffic using the slip road on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg will be diverted towards the flyover.
- Bhisham Pitamah Marg: Vehicles approaching JLN Stadium Gate No. 1 and Kotla Mubarakpur Flyover near the stadium signal will face restrictions. Motorists will be directed to take a U-turn towards Mehar Chand Market and Lodhi Colony.
- Kushak Nallah Bus Depot: Traffic heading towards stadium Gates 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be restricted. Vehicles will be redirected towards 4th Avenue Road for access to Lodhi Road or towards INA for Aurobindo Marg.
Police may introduce further diversions at Kotla Mubarakpur signal on Bhisham Pitamah Marg and at the Bhisham Pitamah Marg–Lodhi Road T-junction if traffic conditions demand additional measures.
Diljit urges fans to travel by Metro
Dosanjh has appealed to concertgoers to use the Delhi Metro, pointing out in a video message posted on Instagram that parking facilities would not be available for the general public at the stadium.
The singer also sought to reassure fans about their return journey, saying the Metro would operate until around midnight and encouraging people to use it for a more convenient trip to and from the concert.
Passengers using the Violet Line can get off at JLN Stadium or Jangpura stations and walk to stadium Gates 13, 14 and 17.
Those travelling on the Yellow Line can alight at INA or Jor Bagh stations and arrange onward transport to Kushak Nallah Bus Depot signal, which provides access to Gates 3, 6 and 8.
No general parking at the concert venue
Authorities have clarified that parking will not be available to the general public at or around JLN Stadium. Limited facilities have been earmarked for special invitees at Sunehri Pula Bus Depot and the Dayal Singh College parking area.
Taxi drivers, cab operators and three-wheeler drivers have been directed not to stop or park indiscriminately along roadsides.
They must use designated passenger pick-up and drop-off locations, including Archbishop Makarios Marg, Lal Masjid in Pragati Vihar and the Kushak Nallah Bus Depot signal.
People travelling from north-west, west, south-west and southern parts of Delhi have been advised to consider Aurobindo Marg and Lodhi Road.
Designated drop-off locations can be reached through Archbishop Makarios Marg or Kushak Nallah Bus Depot via 4th Avenue Road.
For commuters arriving from southern, eastern and south-eastern Delhi, the suggested route is through Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, with Lal Masjid in Pragati Vihar designated as a drop-off point.

दिल्ली ट्रैफिक पुलिस ने शुक्रवार को दोपहर एक बजे से आधी रात तक JLN स्टेडियम और आसपास की सड़कों पर यातायात प्रतिबंधों तथा मार्ग परिवर्तन की घोषणा की है। वाहन चालकों को प्रभावित रास्तों से बचने और यात्रा के लिए अतिरिक्त समय लेकर चलने की सलाह दी गई है।
प्रभावित मार्गों में भीष्म पितामह मार्ग, लोदी रोड, लाला लाजपत राय मार्ग, आर्कबिशप मकारियोस मार्ग, चौथी और पांचवीं एवेन्यू रोड, CGO कॉम्प्लेक्स की आंतरिक सड़कें तथा लोदी कॉलोनी के आसपास के इलाके शामिल हैं।
स्टेडियम के आसपास की सड़कों के अलावा INA और जंगपुरा मेट्रो स्टेशन के गेट नंबर 2 के बीच बारापुला फ्लाईओवर के क्षेत्र में भी यातायात प्रभावित हो सकता है। दयाल सिंह कॉलेज रोड और उससे जुड़ी सड़कों पर भी प्रतिबंध लागू रहेंगे।
ट्रैफिक पुलिस के अनुसार, प्रमुख बदलाव इस प्रकार हैं:
- लोदी रोड: लोदी फ्लाईओवर सिग्नल से अरविंदो मार्ग के बीच यातायात की अनुमति रहेगी। हालांकि, निर्धारित डायवर्जन बिंदु के आगे दयाल सिंह कॉलेज रोड पर वाहनों को जाने की अनुमति नहीं होगी।
- लाला लाजपत राय मार्ग और JLN मार्ग का चौराहा: यहां से वाहनों को लोदी फ्लाईओवर की ओर मोड़ा जाएगा।
- सुखना भवन की ओर जाने वाला मार्ग: लाला लाजपत राय मार्ग की स्लिप रोड से आने वाले वाहनों को फ्लाईओवर की ओर भेजा जाएगा।
- भीष्म पितामह मार्ग: JLN स्टेडियम के सिग्नल के पास गेट नंबर 1 और कोटला मुबारकपुर फ्लाईओवर की दिशा में जाने वाले वाहनों पर प्रतिबंध रहेगा। वाहन चालकों को मेहरचंद मार्केट और लोदी कॉलोनी की ओर यू-टर्न लेने के लिए कहा जाएगा।
- कुशक नाला बस डिपो: स्टेडियम के गेट नंबर 3, 4, 5, 6 और 7 की ओर जाने वाले वाहनों को रोका जाएगा। उन्हें लोदी रोड की ओर जाने के लिए चौथी एवेन्यू रोड अथवा अरविंदो मार्ग के लिए INA की दिशा में भेजा जाएगा।
यातायात की स्थिति को देखते हुए भीष्म पितामह मार्ग पर कोटला मुबारकपुर सिग्नल और भीष्म पितामह मार्ग-लोदी रोड टी-जंक्शन पर अतिरिक्त डायवर्जन भी लागू किए जा सकते हैं।

टैक्सी, कैब और ऑटो चालकों को सड़कों के किनारे मनमाने ढंग से वाहन खड़े करने या सवारी बैठाने-उतारने से बचने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। इसके लिए आर्कबिशप मकारियोस मार्ग, प्रगति विहार स्थित लाल मस्जिद और कुशक नाला बस डिपो सिग्नल को निर्धारित स्थानों में शामिल किया गया है।
