Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Honours Board Exam Toppers with Gold Necklaces, Urges Students to Dream Big
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay made a special gesture towards academically outstanding students on Wednesday by presenting gold necklaces and financial awards to Class 10 and Class 12 board examination toppers.
The felicitation ceremony in Chennai celebrated young achievers from different parts of the state and placed the spotlight on the importance of education in shaping their future.
The programme marked the opening phase of the TVK’s educational awards initiative, under which students who performed exceptionally well in their board examinations were recognised for their achievements.
Vijay personally handed over certificates and financial incentives, turning the occasion into an opportunity to appreciate academic excellence and motivate students to pursue higher goals.
For the award recipients, the recognition was about much more than receiving a prize.
Monica, a Class 12 student from Tiruvannamalai who obtained 566 marks out of 600, said meeting Vijay and accepting the honour from him was an unforgettable experience.
Speaking to news agency PTI, she expressed the hope that such recognition would encourage other students, particularly those preparing for important examinations, to work towards academic success.
Another recipient, Srinithi from Cuddalore, secured 494 marks out of 500 in her Class 10 examinations.
She described the opportunity to receive an award from the chief minister as a proud moment, not only for herself but also for her school. The recognition, she indicated, would remain an important milestone in her academic journey.
Addressing the gathering, Vijay shifted the focus from the awards to the larger role education can play in an individual’s life.
He spoke about his entry into politics and explained that concern for the younger generation and their future had been among the considerations behind his decision to enter public life.
However, he made it clear that the occasion was not intended to be a political gathering.
Instead of discussing his party or seeking political support, he asked the students to concentrate on their education, develop their abilities and work towards achieving their personal ambitions.
According to PTI, Vijay told the students that they should first establish themselves through education and professional achievement before turning their attention to broader social responsibilities.
He encouraged them to become successful individuals who could eventually make a meaningful contribution to Tamil Nadu and the country.
The chief minister also reminded the young achievers that their accomplishments carried significance beyond personal recognition.
Their families, communities and the state had expectations from them, he said, urging them to understand the responsibility that accompanied their educational opportunities.
Vijay further stressed the importance of maintaining an independent identity and having the confidence to pursue individual goals. He cautioned students against allowing criticism, opposition, or difficult circumstances to weaken their determination.
In an encouraging message, he suggested that obstacles should not automatically be viewed as reasons to abandon one’s ambitions.
Rather, young people should treat challenges as opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and strengthen their resolve.
The ceremony highlighted the growing importance of recognising academic performance and encouraging students from different districts to aim higher.
Through the awards programme, the TVK sought to acknowledge meritorious students while reinforcing the message that education, perseverance and self-confidence can open doors to a better future.
For the students who received the honours, the occasion was also a reminder that academic achievement can bring recognition at the highest levels of public life.
Vijay’s message to them was straightforward: build a strong foundation through education, fulfil your ambitions and use your achievements to contribute positively to society.
