The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has flagged over 50 drugs, including Paracetamol, as ‘not of standard quality’. The report highlights concerns with various medications such as calcium and vitamin D3 supplements, anti-diabetes pills, and high blood pressure medicines. Some pharmaceutical companies have denied responsibility, claiming the drugs are spurious.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has identified over 50 drugs that have failed in the drug test. In its latest report, the controller said 50 drugs including Paracetamol are “not of standard quality” (NSQ). The report has also flagged calcium and vitamin D3 supplements, anti-diabetes pills, and high-blood pressure medicines.
NSQ alerts come from monthly random sampling conducted by state drug officers. Some of the medicines were produced by companies like Hetero Drugs, Alkem Laboratories, Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL), Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Meg Lifesciences, and Pure & Cure Healthcare.
