Bangladesh minorities particularly Hindus still living in fear, despite assurances by the interim government.
Bangladesh’s new interim government’s assurance to protect minorities appears to be falling flat on the ground.
More than four dozen Hindu teachers were forced to resign after the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5.
The Daily Star newspaper has quoted Bangladesh Chatra Oikya Parishad saying minority teachers across the country were assaulted and around fifty of them were forced to resign.
This happened during the student violence that prompted Sheikh Hasina to resign flee the country and seek refuge in India.
The student wing of the parish held a press conference the other day.
The organization’s coordinator, Sajib Sarkar also said that nineteen teachers were later reinstated.
Sarkar also added that minorities also faced assaults on women, vandalism of temples, arson, attacks on homes, and killings.

Muhammad Yunus who is heading the government met the country’s Hindu leaders at a reception he hosted at hosted for them last week and promised interfaith harmony.
