June 25 will be observed as ‘Murder of Constitution Day’ from next year. A notification to this affect has been issued by the ministry of home affairs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said. It is intended to pay honour and homage to all those persons who underwent the torture of emergency that was thurst upon the nation.
This step is being viewed in response to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement wherein he had repeatedly said during electioneering for the last lok sabha polls that the constitution of the country was in danger under the Modi government.
India block leaders particularly from Samajwadi party and Janta Dal will certainly feel uneasy by this notification as their party leaders were also thoughtlessly targetted during the emergency imposed on the country on June 25, 1975.
Hundreds of leaders belonging to several political parties were tortured and thrown into prison for long periods.
Thousands throughout the country had fled their homes and spent time in hiding from one place to another.
The Congress party and in particular Rahul Gandhi had blamed the BJP led NDA government of changing the constitution.
In almost every Lok Sabha election meeting Rahul Gandhi displayed copy of the constitution to the electorate.
Even while taking oath in the parliament Rahul Gandhi carried the constitution copy in his hands.
On its part the BJP during election rallies had reacted to this gesture of  showing copies of the constitution by Rahul Gandhi, that Congress party by imposing emergency had snatched the fundamental rights of the people of this country.
Since the fresh start of parliament following the Lok Sabha elections recently, it had become quite clear that the war of words between the congress and the BJP would increase in the times to come.
The ‘Samvidhan Hatya Divas’ ( murder of constitution day)coined and notified by the BJP government is being viewed as the outcome of the fierce tug of war going on between the two prominent political parties in the country.
PM Modi while commenting on the then emergency has said it was a black phase in the history of the country. This will remind us that the constitution of the country was crushed on June 25 by the congress party which was rukibg the country in 1975.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath while welcoming the decision of the union government to observe June 25 as the murder of constitution day, has said the decision will serve to strenghthen democracy in the country.
While there seems to be no end to this delicate and extraordinary situation, the Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge in a counter attack has accused the BJP of murdering the constitution all through its ten year rule in the country.
