Cong puts hurdles when others try to help farmers neither do anything for the farmer: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly criticized the Congress party, accusing them of making empty promises about farmers while neither taking action for their welfare nor allowing others to do so. He pointed to the delay in the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) as clear evidence of Congress’s intentions.
“The Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) was delayed for years by Congress, which shows their real intentions. They speak a lot about farmers, but they neither help them nor let anyone else do so,” he remarked during a public meeting in Dadiya, Jaipur.
PM Modi was speaking at the ‘Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh’ event, marking the completion of one year of the Rajasthan government. During the event, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 24 energy, roads, railways, and water projects valued at over Rs 46,300 crore.
The PM said the Parvati, Kalisindh, and Chambal projects would provide irrigation and drinking water to 21 districts across Rajasthan, fostering development in both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
While the BJP promotes dialogue, Modi said, the Congress continues to stoke water disputes between states. “BJP’s policy is about dialogue, not conflict. We believe in cooperation, not opposition. We believe in finding solutions, not creating disruptions. This is why our government has approved and expanded the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project. As soon as the BJP governments came into power in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, an agreement was reached on the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project,” he explained.
The Prime Minister recalled his efforts to bring Narmada River water to different parts of Gujarat when he was Chief Minister and accused Congress and certain NGOs of using various methods to block it. “Congress has never worked to solve water issues… Our rivers’ water flowed across borders, but farmers did not benefit. Rather than resolving the issue, Congress only fueled water disputes between states,” he added.
PM Modi also expressed that the BJP was receiving overwhelming support in states where elections had taken place. “The BJP is gaining immense public support in state after state. The country has given the BJP the chance to serve for a third consecutive term in the Lok Sabha, something that hasn’t happened in India in 60 years,” he said. “Today, BJP’s double-engine governments have become synonymous with good governance. Whatever resolutions the BJP takes, it works diligently to fulfill them. The people of the country now say that the BJP guarantees good governance.”
He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the BJP government in Rajasthan. “In the past year, Bhajanlal ji and his entire team have worked tirelessly to give new energy and direction to the state’s development. This first year has laid a solid foundation for the years ahead,” he concluded.
