Eleven persons were killed in Hardoi district, UP after a truck hit an autorickshaw. The dead included six women and three children.
The accident took place on the Bilgram-Madhavganj road near Roshanpur village, on Wednesday.
The two vehicles crashed against each other while trying to avoid hitting a motorcyclist, police sources said.
The CM Yogi Aditya Nath expressed grief over the accident and announced state help of Rs 2 lakh to each victim’s family and Rs 50,000 as compensation to the injured.
Fifteen passengers in the auto were badly damaged.
