Extramarital Dispute Turns Deadly on Holi: Noida Property Dealer Shot Dead, Three Arrested
Noida — Three individuals have been arrested and a minor detained for their alleged role in the murder of a 39-year-old real estate dealer inside a residential complex in Noida on Holi, police officials said on Friday.
Initial findings suggest that the killing may have stemmed from a strained romantic relationship outside marriage.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Labbu alias Lokendra Solanki (26), Nikhil Solanki (24), and Priya Singh (28), all residents of Kavinagar in Ghaziabad.
The victim, Sahil Singhal, originally from Sorkha village, was celebrating the Holi festival with his family at Ivy County housing society in Sector 113, Noida, on Wednesday when the shooting occurred.
According to investigators, Sahil — who was married and the father of two children — was allegedly involved in a relationship with Priya Singh.
His relatives claimed that Priya had been demanding money from him for nearly three years and had been pressuring him to leave his wife and marry her.
The family maintained that Sahil had refused to end his marriage or accept her demand.
On the day of the festival, Priya reportedly arrived at the society to confront Sahil.
The confrontation soon escalated into a heated argument, after which one of the suspects allegedly opened fire at Sahil and his wife.
Sahil suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by doctors.
During the investigation, police recovered a pistol, two live cartridges, and the vehicle believed to have been used in the crime from the accused.
Additional DCP (Noida) Manisha Singh stated that earlier disputes had also occurred after Priya’s family allegedly shared photographs of her and Sahil on social media, which triggered arguments and even led to a complaint being filed in Ghaziabad.
Police have registered a case at Sector 113 police station under Section 103(1) (murder) and Section 3(5) (common criminal liability) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 3, 25, and 27 of the Arms Act. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
