Gurgaon: A late-night outing ended in tragedy early Saturday morning when a Mahindra Thar carrying six people crashed on National Highway 48 near Jharsa Chowk in Gurgaon.

Four of the passengers died instantly, one succumbed to injuries at the hospital, and one remains in critical condition.

According to police, the group — comprising three men and three women — had traveled from Greater Noida to Ebowla Club and BYOB in Gurgaon on Friday night.

After spending several hours at the club for food and drinks, the group left the venue at 4:12 am. CCTV footage and police records indicate that ten minutes later, their SUV entered the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.

Accident Details

Between 4:30 and 4:45 am, as the Thar approached the exit near Jharsa Chowk, it was allegedly speeding at over 100 kmph and lost control.

“The driver attempted to brake while taking the exit turn, but it was too late,” a police spokesperson said. The vehicle collided head-on with the divider, flipping multiple times, leaving the scene devastatingly mangled.

Four of the six occupants — Pratishtha Mishra (25) from Raebareli, Aditya Pratap Singh (24) from Agra, Gautam (31) from Sonepat but living in Greater Noida, and Aditi Soni alias Jyoti (21) from Delhi — died on the spot.

Lavanya (26) from Agra succumbed to her injuries after initial treatment at the hospital. The sole survivor, Kapil Sharma (28) from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, remains in critical condition at Medanta Hospital.

The black Mahindra Thar, bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number, has been impounded. Its mangled remains are currently covered and kept outside the Sector 40 police station as part of the ongoing investigation. Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle is registered to a resident of Aligarh.

Victims and Background

Police confirmed the identities of the deceased using mobile phones recovered from the vehicle. Inspector Lalit Singh, Sector 40 Station House Officer, said, “We have been working since early morning to contact families and confirm identities. It has been an emotionally difficult day for everyone involved.”

  • Gautam (31): Worked for a private firm, residing in Greater Noida.
  • Aditya Pratap Singh (24) & Kapil Sharma (28): Both are involved in the advertising business in Noida.

Police Response

Police received information about the accident at 5:02 am through their Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team. Upon arrival, officers found the Thar had collided with the grille dividing the exit/service road and main carriageway at Jharsa Chowk. The injured were immediately transported to a private hospital, where four were declared dead on arrival,” the spokesperson said.

Inspector Lalit Singh added that officers were providing support to the grieving families. “It feels like a death in our own family,” an officer told Pratishtha’s sister-in-law, expressing the somber mood at the station.

Authorities are yet to determine who was driving the vehicle. The bodies of the deceased are currently at the mortuary in Civil Hospital, Sector 10, and post-mortem examinations will be conducted once they are officially identified by the families.
