Four Young MBBS Interns Die in Horrific Crash Into Parked Truck on Delhi–Lucknow Highway; All Were Only Sons of Their Families
In a devastating incident, four young MBBS interns, all of whom were only sons of their families, lost their lives late Wednesday night when their Swift Dzire car crashed into a stationary truck on the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, police officials confirmed.
The accident occurred around 10:30 PM near Atrasi village, just 7 km from Shri Venkateshwara University, Gajraula, where the four were undergoing internship after completing their MBBS as part of the 2020 batch.
How the Accident Happened
According to police, a mattress-loaded DCM truck was parked on the service lane when the speeding car rammed into it from behind with immense force.
The impact was so violent that the entire front section of the vehicle got wedged into the rear of the truck.
The collision was extremely severe. The front portion of the car was embedded deep inside the DCM.
It took considerable effort and heavy equipment, including a tractor, to separate the vehicles and cut open the car to recover the bodies,” the police said.
When residents rushed to the spot after hearing a loud crash, they found the car’s roof torn open, the dashboard completely crushed, and blood splattered across the interior.
Both front airbags had deployed, but the force of the impact left no chance of survival.
Victims Identified
Police identified the victims using Aadhaar cards found at the site, and immediately informed the university authorities and the families. The deceased were:
Dr Arnab Chakraborty (25) – Belgharia North, West Bengal. Ayush Sharma – DelhiDr. Shrestha Pancholi – Delhi. Saptarishi (24) – Ramnagar, Agartala, Tripura
All four reportedly died on the spot. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination after the arrival of family members.
Community in Shock
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the medical community, the university campus, and the families, who now face unbearable grief after losing their only children with promising medical careers ahead.
Students at the university mourned the loss, describing the group as dedicated doctors with strong academic backgrounds and bright futures.
Authorities are investigating whether overspeeding, poor visibility, or a lack of reflective markings on the parked truck contributed to the crash.
A heartbreaking reminder
This tragic accident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding road safety, unmarked stationary vehicles, and the lack of proper nighttime highway regulation across India’s major road networks.
