Gajinder Singh, the terror accused in the hijacking of Air India plane on 29 September 1981 died in Pakistan.
The plane was hijacked in protest against the arrest of Jarnail Singh Bhindarawala.
Confirming his death due to heart attack, Kanwar Pal Singh, spokesperson of Dal Khalsa said, Gajinder died in July 3 and was cremated on July 4.
The last rites were performed by his daughter Vikramjeet Kaur.
Bhindarwala’s nephew Swarn Singh had been accused in the murder of one Lala Hagat Narain. Police believed that Bhindarwala was involved in the conspiracy following which he was arrested on September 20.
In protest Gajinder hijacked Air India flight 423 from Delhi to Srinagar. The flight was taken to Lahore where he was arrested. After remaining in Jail for 14 years he was released but he remained in Pakistan.
The Indian government kept requesting the Pak government for handing over the accused.
However, the Pakistan government kept denying about his presence on their land.
