Ganga Pandal Comes Alive with Folk and Classical Performances in Prayagraj

Prayagraj:The Ganga Pandal, set up in the mela area by the Department of Culture, was soaked in the vibrant colours of folk songs, classical music, and traditional folk dances on Monday, creating a festive and culturally rich atmosphere for visitors.
Singer Rashmi Chaudhary from Lucknow, along with her team, enthralled the audience with her soulful singing and set the mood for the evening.
Renowned folk singer Neera Mishra captivated listeners with her melodious and heartfelt renditions of “Ganga Tohri Lahar Sabke Man Bhaaye,” “Ganga Kinare Laga Mela, Chalo Sakhi Ganga Nahaye Aayi,” and “Bahat Basanti Bairiya,” all of which deeply resonated with the spirit of the Ganga and the Magh Mela.
From Meerut, Ruchi Baloni presented a Kathak-based dance ballet along with her team. Her graceful movements and expressive storytelling drew loud applause from the audience.
Naina Gupta and her troupe from Bareilly impressed spectators with energetic folk dance performances depicting Radha–Krishna themes and the powerful Shiv Tandav.
The musical sequence continued with Vandana Mishra, who rendered “Ghar-Ghar Baaje Badhaiya” with great charm, while singer Magan Mishra offered a deeply moving bhajan, “Meera Bhai Aisi Deewani, Braj Ki Kahani Ho Gayi,” which left the audience spellbound.
Nad Brahma Shilp Mela Inaugurated at NCZCC
Meanwhile, the Nad Brahma Shilp Mela was inaugurated on Monday at the North Central Zone Cultural Centre. The programme formally began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Director Sudesh Sharma.
In the first session, a Kavi Sammelan (poets’ meet) was organised. Poet Abhijeet Mishra recited his heroic poem “Aurangzeb Bola Hanskar,” filled with heroism .
Poetess Pallavi Mishra presented her poem “Dekhkar Ek Dooje Ko Hum Kya Ruke,” while Vasudev Pandey stirred patriotic sentiments with his powerful lines, “Aaj Bhi Dhamaniyon Mein Unhi Ki Aag Baaki Hai.”
The second session featured a literary seminar on the theme “Magh Mela: A Global Pilgrimage of Social Harmony.” The keynote speaker, Dr Dhananjay Chopra, described the Prayag Mela as a global proclamation of India’s Sanatan cultural tradition.
Dr Chitranjan Kumar observed that the mela inspires people, amid the rush of modern life, to pause, reflect, and engage in self-introspection.
In the concluding session, a cultural evening was organised in which singer Vikas Mishra began with a Ganesh Vandana, followed by lively Bhojpuri songs such as “Bali Baliya Se Baramad Hoke,” “International Baati Chokha,” and “Railiya Bairan.”
Swati Nirkhi further mesmerised the audience with her emotional rendition of “Ganga Maiya Mein Jab Tak Ki Paani Rahe.”
The programme was conducted by Sudhanshu Shukla. Several distinguished personalities, including Manoj Gupta, Dr Shlesh Gautam, Dr Krishnanand Pandey, and Babu Lal Bhawra, were present on the occasion.
