In a shocking incident a group of lawyers allegedly beat up a young lady and her husband inside the court of civil judge senior division in full view of dozens of lawyers and litigants here on Monday.
The young man who tried to save himself from the unexpected and violent attack by seeking refuge inside the judges retiring chamber was caught by his collar pulled down and was given a sound beating.
The young man’s wife was also allegedly caught by the hair and thrashed by this group of lawyers.
The woman became the object of wrath of these lawyers after she tried to shield her husband who was getting constant fist blows and slapping by this group of lawyers.
Several senior lawyers taking strong exception to this incident tried to intervene but to no avail.
District Bar Association President Rajendra Prasad Misra tried to diffuse the situation but to no avail.
This shameless incident took place when the said lady and her husband reached the court as plaintiffs in a case they had filed against these lawyers for allegedly having got their property transferred fraudulently.
Quite a chaos prevailed in the corridor and court room of the senior civil judge following this incident.
Police and PAC reportedly rushed to the District and Sessions court to control the situation.
It is high time when the honourable high court should take suo moto cognisance of this case and take stern action against such erring lawyers after identifying them, said a senior lawyer.
One of the lawyer allegedly involved in this incident has several criminal cases pending against him.
