Gujrat suspends IAS officer Aayush Oak over causing financial loss to state exchequer:

On allegations of grave irregularities causing huge financial  loss to the state exchequer, the Gujrat government has suspended an IAS officer Aayush Oak in dealing with a revenue land matter when he was posted as collector Surat.

He allegedly passed an order to insert the name of an individual as the tenant of a barren piece of government land worth Rs 2000 crore.

The incident is reported to have taken place between June 2021 and February 2024.

The collector has been suspended with immediate effect.

The action has been taken after an internal inquiry carried out by the revenue department.

Following complaint by Congress leader Darshan Naik, who accused Oak of setting aside his predecessor Rajendra Kumar’s order and passing a suo moto order to insert the name of one Krishnamukhlal Bhagwandas as the tenant of a 2.17 lakh sq Mt government barren land in Dumas. The land is estimated to be worth around 2000 crore. The order was reportedly passed two days before he was transferred as Valsad Collector stated Naik in his complaint to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
