Janiva has recently released two Hindi ghazal albums — ‘Khwab’ (a duet with Javed Ali) and ‘Sangdil’ (a duet with Roop Kumar Rathod) — under YNR Originals. The recordings took place in Mumbai, marking an exciting new chapter in her musical journey.

Speaking about her albums, Janiva shared, “We are planning to release a total of seven Hindi albums sequentially. ‘Khwab’ and ‘Sangdil’ are just the beginning of this journey for me.”

Heartfelt Duets Capturing Listeners’ Emotions

Fans have been enthralled by Janiva’s emotive duets. In ‘Khwab’, she and Javed Ali create a mesmerizing atmosphere with lines like:

“Mili nigaahein jo tumse to mere dil ne kaha, tumhi woh khwab ho saalon se hai jisko dekha”
(When my eyes met yours, my heart said, You are the dream I have seen for years.

Similarly, in ‘Sangdil’, her duet with Roop Kumar Rathod resonates deeply with listeners:

“Honthon par naam tera aankhon mein tere hum, tumse bichad ke jeena hai too saza sanam”
(Your name is on my lips, my eyes are filled with you; living apart from you is a punishment, my love).

Janiva Roy is celebrated not only as a singer but also as a stage performer, dancer, and actress. Nicknamed the ‘Bengal Kokila’ (Nightingale of Bengal) and the ‘Lady Jagjit Singh’, she has performed internationally, captivating audiences with her ghazals, classical pieces, light music, film songs, and mehfil performances.

Her Bengali film work, including acting and singing in ‘Ye Shudhu Amar Gaan’, and albums like ‘Shurer Ei Jharna’, ‘Tomay Bhalo Beshe’, ‘Muntazir’, and ‘Pinjar’, have contributed to her enduring popularity. Her collaborations with Jubin Garg and hits like the duet from ‘Amaader Jaanani’ keep her constantly in public discussion.

RRecognitionand Upcoming Honors

Janiva Roy has received numerous accolades, including honors from the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association (BFJA) presented by Rituperna Sengupta. Her album ‘Ehsaas Pyaar Ka’ was released by Sushmita Sen, further cementing her presence in the music industry. On 20th September 2025, she is set to receive the prestigious ‘Aparajita Samman’ in Kolkata.

Music, Dance, and Dedication

Janiva has also been involved in choreographing and performing in her album videos. On the upcoming videos for ‘Khwab’ and ‘Sangdil’, she said, “Only the audio has been released for now; the videos will follow. I have always enjoyed performing, dancing, and singing from a young age.

I started performing on stage at the age of 10 with my father, Bapi Roy, and dance has been a part of me since childhood.”

She attributes her growth to her parents, saying, “My mother, Sikha Roy, and my father have always guided me. Their support is my strength.” Her songs are particularly sought after during festive occasions like Saraswati Puja, Valentine’s Day, and Durga Puja.

Behind the Music

The albums are presented by Shahab Allahabadi, YNR Originals, and Rumpa Entertainment. Lyricist Nawab Arzoo, composer Naushad Ali, and arranger Susenjit Roy worked diligently to bring these ghazals to life. Janiva expressed her gratitude, saying, “The entire team worked very hard on this album, and I am truly thankful to everyone involved.”
