The Allahabad High Court has observed that it was not ready to tolerate increasing cases of indecent behavior and misconduct of lawyers with the judges. The court expects lawyers to behave properly in a dignified manner while interacting with the judges.
With this warning, the high court has temporarily refrained from taking action against a lawyer on the condition of an unconditional apology to be tendered by the Kanpur-based lawyer against whom contempt proceedings were underway.
However, the court has directed the district judge Kanpur Nagar to keep a watch on the behavior of the said lawyer for two years and submit a report on his conduct during this period.
The bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar and Justice Gautam Chaudhary has observed that Judges can work properly in a peaceful and decent atmosphere.
As officers of the court, the lawyers are expected to behave decently and refrain from using unparliamentary language.
The court made the above comments on a report sent by the district judge Kanpur Nagar against a lawyer Yogendra Trivedi.
The said lawyer had snatched a file from the hands of court staff and had also passed indecent comments against the trial judge.
The lawyer tendered an unconditional apology after contempt proceedings were initiated against him.
