Allahabad High Court on Monday fixed October 15, 2024, for hearing in the Krishna janmbhumi-Shahi Eidgah dispute at Mathura.
Today at 2.00 pm when the matter was taken up it was informed to the court that in some suits the objections on the amendment in plaint have not been filed. The amendment was sought by the plaintiff ( Hindu side) in their plaint (suit).
One application from the Muslim side has been filed to recall the order dated 11, 01, 2024 by which order for consolidation of suits was passed.
Today court fixed Oct.,15 for a hearing.
Justice Mayank Kumar Jain is hearing suits, which are 18 in number.
Earlier, on August 1, 2024, Justice Jain had rejected applications of the Muslim side challenging the maintainability of suits of Hindu worshippers and held that all suits of Hindu worshippers are maintainable. In the August 1 order, the court had also held that these suits are not barred by the Limitation Act, Waqf Act, and Places of Worship Act,1991, which prohibits conversion of any religious structure as existed on August, 15,1947.
Suits have been filed from the Hindu side for possession after the removal of the structure of Shahi Idgah masjid as well as for restoration of the temple and for permanent injunction.
The controversy is related to Mughal emperor Aurangazeb-era Shahi Eidgah mosque at Mathura, which is alleged to have been built after demolishing a temple at the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
However, the Muslim side (Management Committee of Shahi-Eidgah and UP Sunni Central Waqf Board) are opposed to this suit on several grounds.
