Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party has sent a clear and uncompromising message to its legislators in Uttar Pradesh: poor performance in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists will directly endanger assembly tickets.

At a high-level state meeting held on Sunday at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh made it explicit that MLAs from constituencies showing weak SIR outcomes should either intensify efforts immediately or candidly admit they do not wish to contest future elections.

The meeting was chaired by Uttar Pradesh BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary and attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with senior ministers, MPs, MLAs, district presidents, assembly in-charges, and SIR coordinators from across the state.

CM Yogi Flags Low-Performance Seats, Issues Deadline

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented a constituency-wise account of assembly seats where SIR work has remained comparatively weak, including several segments in Lucknow and other districts.

Stressing urgency, he directed party workers to immediately intensify voter verification efforts.

“All booths must have tables. Voter lists must reach every booth. Match the lists thoroughly—identify who is missing and who has been wrongly included,” the Chief Minister instructed.

He issued a sharp warning to leaders who had won or lost previous elections by narrow margins. “If even three per cent of votes are lost, it becomes a danger signal. Those candidates must treat this as an alarm bell,” he said.

“2.5 to 3 Crore Voters Are Missing — These Are Your Votes”: CM

In one of the strongest remarks of the meeting, CM Yogi said that 2.5 to 3 crore voters are currently missing from the rolls.

“Ask yourselves—whose votes are these? These are your votes,” he said, urging leaders to focus aggressively on enrolling new voters while simultaneously ensuring the removal of infiltrators and fake entries from the electoral rolls.

He asked leaders to suspend all social engagements, ceremonies, and travel, and dedicate themselves exclusively to SIR work for the next five days.

Tarun Chugh: “SIR Work Will Shape the Next 20 Years”

Addressing the gathering, Tarun Chugh underlined the long-term political significance of the current revision exercise.

“The effort you put into SIR today will define the next 20 years,” he said. “The coming eight assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be foughtbased onf this voter list. It can make or break governments—MLAs, MPs, even the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.”

He made a pointed remark toward districts showing low progress: “If SIR work is weak in any district, assume that the elected representatives there have mentally opted out of contesting elections.

Anyone who does not want to fight should clearly inform the Chief Minister, the state president, or the organisation’s general secretary.”

Chugh cautioned against complacency, stating that December 26 is the final window to increase voter numbers. “Do not assume the deadline will be extended. This is your opportunity—use it.”

Fake Voters Must Go: “One Father, Fifteen Mothers” Case Cited

Highlighting large-scale irregularities, Chugh cited shocking examples discovered during verification.

“There are houses with 50 to 80 voters registered. One father and fifteen mothers. One person is shown as the father of dozens of individuals. Such fraudulent entries must be removed,” he said.

He instructed party workers to use the Simple App to flag suspicious voters. “Click on the doubtful entries; a PDF will be generated on your mobile. File objections using Form-7,” he explained.

After December 26, when the draft voter roll is released, party workers were asked to obtain two to three copies, distribute them booth-wise, and conduct meticulous matching.

Large-scale submission of Form-6 (for new voters) and Form-7 (for deletions) was emphasised.

“No genuine voter should be left out, and no fake voter should remain on the list,” Chugh reiterated.

Deputies Echo the Urgency

Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that if the BJP aims to win the 2027 and subsequent elections continuously, SIR must be treated as a mission, not a routine task.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak appealed to all party workers to abandon all other engagements and focus solely on voter list revision.

Senior BJP leader K. Laxman added that honest and sustained work on SIR is indispensable for returning to power.

Opposition “Uneasy” Over Fake Voter Cleanup: Pankaj Chaudhary

State BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary said the opposition’s recent uproar in Parliament over SIR reflects its anxiety.

“They are worried because fake voters are being identified and removed,” he said.

He also called upon party workers to actively participate in programmes marking Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary on December 25 and Veer Bal Diwas on December 26.

Upcoming Events and Conclusion

Organisation General Secretary Dharampal Singh outlined the party’s organisational roadmap, announcing a major event in Lucknow on December 25 to mark Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, during which Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Rashtra Prerna Kendra and address a public gathering.

The meeting was conducted by State General Secretary Govind Narayan Shukla.

Reiterating his directions, CM Yogi concluded by reminding leaders that the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be fought on this very voter list, while local body and panchayat elections will follow rolls prepared by the State Election Commission.
