Midnight Gunfire Outside Rohit Shetty’s Juhu Home Sparks Security Scare, Police Launch Manhunt
Tension gripped Mumbai’s upscale Juhu neighbourhood early Sunday after unidentified assailants opened fire outside the residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
According to police officials, around five rounds were fired near the entrance of Shetty’s multi-storey bungalow at approximately 12.45 am.
The director was present inside his home at the time, but no injuries were reported.
The incident triggered an immediate security response, with heavy police deployment outside the house. A security guard on duty reportedly heard the gunshots and promptly informed Shetty, who then alerted the police.
Officers recovered multiple bullet shells from the spot, and an FIR has been registered at the local police station under provisions of the Arms Act.
Investigation Intensifies
Senior officials confirmed that both zonal police teams and the crime branch have taken over the probe.
“At this stage, the motive behind the firing remains unclear. The director had not received any recent threats,” a senior officer said.
Police are currently analysing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace the attackers’ movements before and after the shooting. Sources indicated that some footage has already provided preliminary leads.
A forensic team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, including ballistic experts, visited the scene to collect evidence and examine the nature of the firearm used.
Authorities are also in the process of recording Rohit Shetty’s detailed statement and appealing for eyewitness accounts to piece together the sequence of events.
Strong Ties With Police Force
Shetty is known to share a close relationship with the Mumbai Police, often attending official events and seeking their assistance while researching for his action-packed films, including the popular Golmaal franchise.
Fresh Concerns After Recent Celebrity Attacks
The shooting has once again raised concerns about the safety of high-profile personalities in the city.
Just months ago, a special court framed charges against five individuals accused of firing outside the Bandra residence of actor Salman Khan.
The accused in that case are set to face trial under serious charges, including attempt to murder and provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Police sources said additional patrols have been increased across the Juhu area, and teams are working around the clock to identify and arrest the shooters.
No arrests have been made so far, but officials claim the investigation is moving swiftly based on forensic inputs and CCTV evidence.
