In a forceful address delivered in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that the Indian Armed Forces had executed “Operation Sindoor”, a decisive military operation that, according to him, compelled Pakistan to submit in the face of India’s resolve.

Emphasizing the power and unity of the Indian state, he declared that the world has witnessed the transformation of “sindoor” (a symbol of devotion and sacrifice) into “barood” (gunpowder), signaling the emergence of a new, assertive India.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this recent operation represents not vengeance, but a “new form of justice”, highlighting India’s evolved strategy against terrorism. He further underlined that there will be no trade or dialogue with Pakistan moving forward, and laid down three fundamental principles that now govern India’s response to terrorism:

  1. A swift and strong retaliation will follow any terrorist attack on Indian soil.
  2. India will not be intimidated by nuclear threats.
  3. There will no longer be a distinction between Pakistan’s government and the non-state actors it harbors; both will be treated as the same.

“Operation Sindoor”: A Message to Terror Sponsors

The Prime Minister disclosed that following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where innocent civilians were targeted and women’s dignity was violated, the nation united in collective grief and resolve.

“The terrorists asked for the religion of the victims and shattered the sindoor of our sisters,” Modi said, referring to the symbolism of sindoor as marital sanctity and dignity.

Responding to this act, Modi said, “With the blessings of the people and the bravery of our armed forces, we delivered on our promise.” He revealed that the military response, codenamed Operation Sindoor, destroyed nine major terrorist hideouts within 22 minutes.

“The world and our enemies have seen what happens when sindoor becomes gunpowder,” he declared, reiterating that the Indian military now operates with full freedom and autonomy under his leadership.

Rejecting Fear, Embracing Strength

Taking a direct jab at Pakistan’s past threats of nuclear warfare, Modi stated, “India will not be cowed by the rattling of nuclear sabers.”

He accused Pakistan of replacing conventional warfare with terrorism due to its repeated defeats in direct conflicts with India. “Terrorism has become Pakistan’s chosen weapon of war, but they underestimated India’s will.”

In an impassioned declaration of resolve, the Prime Minister stated:

“Today, I stand before you not just with pride, but with a burning resolve. My blood flows hot with garam sindoor. This is not anger—it is the fierce form of a united India. This is the new Bharat.”

Strategic Isolation of Pakistan

The Prime Minister further announced that India would pursue diplomatic efforts to isolate Pakistan globally. A delegation of Indian Members of Parliament from across party lines is currently touring international capitals to present the true face of Pakistan to the world, Modi added.

Modi also sent a stern warning that no resources—neither financial nor natural—would be accessible to Pakistan if it continues to export terrorism.

“Every drop of blood spilled will be avenged. Every bullet fired at India will have a cost,” he said, warning that even Pakistan’s access to water that rightfully belongs to India could be blocked.

He clarified India’s uncompromising stance by stating that if there is ever any dialogue, it will be only about the status of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Striking at the Core: Balakot to Bikaner

Drawing parallels to the 2019 Balakot air strikes, PM Modi noted that his first public rally post-strike five years ago was also in Rajasthan.

Echoing his now-famous words from that time—“I swear on this soil, I won’t let the nation fade or bow down”—he reaffirmed that India’s defense strategy has transformed into an offensive posture.

Highlighting the precision and success of India’s operations, he mentioned that while Nal airport in Bikaner was targeted by Pakistani forces, no damage was inflicted.

In contrast, India’s retaliatory strike crippled Pakistan’s Rahim Yar Khan airbase, which, he said, now lies incapacitated.

National Resolve: Security and Development Go Hand-in-Hand

The Prime Minister concluded by asserting that a developed India (Viksit Bharat) is only possible when every region of the country is secure.

He described Operation Sindoor not only as a military victory but also as a declaration of India’s readiness to secure both national security and economic growth in tandem.

“Those who tried to wipe away our sindoor have been turned to dust,” Modi declared. “This is not just about defense; this is about Bharat’s transformation—a strong, confident, and unshakable India.”
