PM MODI UNVEILS 77-FT BRONZE STATUE OF LORD RAM IN GOA, CALLS FOR UNITY TO BUILD ‘VIKSIT BHARAT’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated a monumental 77-feet bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, located in Partagali, South Goa, marking a historic moment in the Math’s ongoing 550th-year celebrations.
Addressing thousands of devotees and spiritual leaders gathered at the event, PM Modi emphasised that the nation’s strength lies in unity.
“The path to a Viksit Bharat is through collective harmony. When society stands together, every sector progresses, and the country takes a giant leap,” he said, receiving an overwhelming applause.
A Symbol of Cultural Renaissance
Highlighting the spiritual transformation unfolding across the nation, PM Modi reflected on a series of landmark restorations and temple revival projects.
“Three days ago, I had the privilege of hoisting the Dharma Dhwaj atop the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Today, here in Goa, a magnificent 77-foot idol of Lord Ram has been installed. India is experiencing a glorious cultural renaissance,” he said.
He further referenced the renovation of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Mahakal Mahalok expansion in Ujjain, and other heritage projects that represent “India’s awakened cultural consciousness and spiritual resurgence.”
Major Announcements & Inaugurations
As part of the celebration, PM Modi also unveiled several major initiatives:
- Inaugurated the Ramayana Theme Park Garden within the Math complex
- Released a special postal stamp and commemorative coin
- Addressed devotees and followers from across India
The Ram statue has been sculpted by renowned artist Ram Sutar, creator of the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue. Goa PWD Minister Digambar Kamat confirmed that the project is now a spiritual and architectural landmark for the state.
Massive Public Gathering
According to Organising Committee Joint Convenor S Mukund Kamath, the event drew an estimated:
- 15,000 people on the opening day
- 1.2 lakh expected visitors over the 11-day celebration period
The festival also features cultural performances from famed musicians, including Shankar Mahadevan and Anup Jalota.
Historical Significance of the Math
Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math, follows the Dvaita philosophy founded by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century.
Nestled on the serene banks of the Kushavati River, the Math has remained a central centre of spiritual learning and community faith for five centuries.
A Moment of Pride for Goa and India
PM Modi’s Goa visit comes shortly after the historic completion of the Ayodhya Ram Temple, where he declared:
“Centuries-old wounds are healing. Centuries of pain are finding solace.”
The towering statue of Lord Ram now stands as a new spiritual beacon symbolising unity, devotion, and India’s cultural restoration journey.
