A private aircraft bearing the registration VT-DEZ crashed in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, October 9, when it lost control during takeoff and veered off the runway.
The jet, owned by Jet Service Aviation Pvt Ltd, swerved off the tarmac at around 10:30 am from the Kotwali Mohammadabad airstrip and ended up in nearby bushes. Fortunately, all on board escaped without injury.
Who Was on Board & the Purpose of the Flight
According to district officials, the jet carried the Managing Director (MD) of a beer factory under construction in Farrukhabad’s industrial area, who was in the city to inspect the factory site.
While early reports did not initially confirm the names or exact count of all passengers, later news sources suggested a few additional presumed names: Ajay Arora (the MD), Sumit Sharma (SBI official), Rakesh Tikoo (DPO), Captain Naseeb Vamal, and Prateek Fernandez may have also been aboard.
The jet had two pilots and was carrying a small group of passengers (the MD plus associates) when the mishap occurred.
Reaction & Investigation
Local administration acted swiftly: the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other officials reached the crash site to assess damage and ensure safety.
District Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar Dwivedi was quoted as saying: The private jet carrying the MD of an under-construction factory lost control during takeoff and went into nearby bushes.
Fortunately, all occupants are safe and no injuries have been reported.”
The service provider, Jet Service Aviation, later released a statement asserting that the uneven and unsafe condition of the runway, rather than pilot error or technical malfunction, likely caused the accident.
They called upon authorities to repair, level, and clear debris from the runway to prevent similar incidents in the future.
