Tensions Escalate in Naini Land Dispute: Former CRPF Commandant’s Wife Files Counter FIR
Prayagraj (Naini) – The already tense atmosphere in Dhanuha, Chaka, over a bitter land dispute has deepened further with new legal action from the other side of the feud.
On Monday’s incident, where gunfire erupted following a confrontation over a boundary dispute, the wife of the retired CRPF Commandant Surya Kant Misra and his sons Ajit and Anuj have now stepped forward and filed a counter FIR, intensifying the legal battle between the two rival factions.
According to police sources, the complaint filed by the former Commandant’s wife names five individuals—including a former village head, a woman advocate Saroj Tewari, and several others.
The FIR alleges that around 70 unknown people were part of the opposing group, who allegedly attempted to attack them with the intent to kill, leading to a confrontation that saw gunfire being exchanged.
The charges include sections related to attempted murder, unlawful assembly, and armed assault.
Background: Gunfire and Chaos Over a Land Dispute
The latest FIR adds a dramatic twist to Monday’s violent confrontation in Naini. As reported yesterday, the violence broke out in the Chaka-Dhanuha area when a property boundary dispute spiraled out of control.
The retired CRPF Commandant allegedly brandished his licensed firearm and opened fire in a bid to scare off locals who opposed a house being constructed on the disputed land. The scene quickly turned chaotic, with stone-pelting, shouting, and panic spreading across the neighborhood.
Residents, frightened by the sound of gunfire, locked themselves indoors as police rushed to the scene. By the evening, tensions were so high that additional security forces had to be deployed to prevent further escalation.
Now, Counter Allegations Surface
In her complaint, the Commandant’s wife has painted a picture of intimidation, claiming that her family was targeted and that the crowd had come with a clear intention to harm them.
Police have now registered two FIRs—one against the retired CRPF officer for allegedly firing shots at locals, and the second filed by his wife, accusing the other faction of a coordinated attempt to attack them.
Authorities say both cases are being investigated simultaneously, and statements are being collected from eyewitnesses to determine how the clash escalated to such violence.
A Dispute That Has Split a Community
Local sources say the dispute over the land has been simmering for months. Both sides claim ownership of the property, which has become a flashpoint for growing tensions in the area. Monday’s events have deepened mistrust, dividing the village into factions.
Police officials have called for calm, warning both groups against further escalation while legal investigations and property records are reviewed.
This case has now become not just a legal battle but a test of law enforcement’s ability to maintain peace in a community where tempers are running high and firearms have already been drawn.
Police hadthoughth arrested the retired CRPF Commandant after he allegedly fired two shots in self-defense, and to keep the crowd at bay, they had allegedly failed to take any action against the lady advocate who had allegedly reached the spot with a JCB to allegedly demolish the construction being done by Surya Kant Misra.
