“The People Know Who Nurtured the Mafia”: Yogi Adityanath
Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, without naming the previous Samajwadi Party government, launched a sharp attack over alleged links with the mafia.
He said that the public is well aware of who nurtured the mafia that put the state’s identity at risk.
Those who are making accusations today, he added, are the very people whose photographs with mafias are being shown on television.
“These are the same people who, by patronising mafias in every district, effectively gave Uttar Pradesh the model of ‘one district, one mafia’,” the Chief Minister remarked.
Yogi Adityanath was addressing a large public gathering on Friday evening after inaugurating the Gorakhnath Rail Overbridge, constructed at a cost of ₹137.830 crore.
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP’s double-engine government, the Chief Minister spoke about its focus on heritage, development, and public welfare.
In contrast, he accused the previous government of promoting the mafia instead of development.
He alleged that those in power earlier had siphoned off funds meant for development. In their bid to fill their family coffers, he said, they emptied the state treasury.
The Chief Minister further stated that no real development can be expected from people whose vision remains confined to their own families.
