Three Students Killed, Several Injured in Separate Road Accidents While Heading to Board Examinations

Prayagraj: A series of tragic road accidents on Monday claimed the lives of three students and left several others injured as they were either heading to or returning from their board examinations.

The incidents occurred in Koraon, Kheeri, and Tharwai areas, casting a shadow over the examination day.

Class 10 Student Killed in Dumper Collision in Koraon

In the Koraon area, a 17-year-old Class 10 student lost his life after a sand-laden dumper truck rammed into the motorcycle he was riding with two other students.

Shahid, son of the late Chhotkau and a resident of Chamanganj, along with Kaif alias Raj and Ejaz Ahmed, was on his way to appear for the High School Science examination at Anand Bodhashram Higher Secondary School in Tiwari Pur. The three were travelling on a single motorcycle.

Near Pandey Ka Madha Sikaro on the Naribari–Koraon main road, an allegedly speeding and uncontrolled dumper truck collided violently with their bike.

Shahid fell under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot. Ejaz Ahmed and Kaif sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Koraon.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Two Students Die in Head-On Motorcycle Collision in Kheeri

In a separate incident around noon near Itwa SBI in the Kheeri police station area, two students were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles.

Sixteen-year-old Upendra Singh Chauhan, son of Jitendra Singh Chauhan and a resident of Itwa, was returning home after appearing for his High School examination along with his companion Sonu, son of Vijay Chauhan.

At the same time, 17-year-old Garun Mishra, a resident of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, was riding towards his Intermediate examination center.

The two motorcycles collided head-on with severe impact. Upendra Chauhan died on the spot. Garun Mishra, who was on his way to take his Intermediate examination, also lost his life at the scene. One other student sustained serious injuries.

Police have sent the deceased for a post-mortem and initiated further investigation.

Examination Bus Rams into Truck in Tharwai; Several Students Injured

In yet another accident, a bus carrying students to their High School examination center collided with a truck at Takiya crossing under the Tharwai police station limits on Monday morning.

The students, enrolled at KDS Inter College, Marro Katra Handia, had their registration at Shiv Seva Inter College, Soro Katra Handia.

Their examination center had been allotted at Babu JRD Pal Inter College in Tharwai. The school had arranged a private bus to transport them to the examination venue for the morning shift.

At around 7 a.m., as the bus reached Takiya crossing, it reportedly rammed into the rear of a moving truck at high speed.

The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely damaged. More than a dozen students seated in the front rows, along with the driver, sustained injuries.

Hearing screams, residents rushed to the spot and helped evacuate the injured from the bus.

Tharwai police arrived shortly afterward and transported the injured to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bahariya.

Among the injured were 17-year-old Lavkush, 16-year-old Roshan, 16-year-old Himanshu Kesarwani, 17-year-old Shubham Yadav, 18-year-old Shivam, 16-year-old Sonu, and 17-year-old Rani Kesarwani, among others.

Lavkush and Roshan, both residents of Soro Handia, were referred to a city hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

Later, after appearing for the examination, Rani Kesarwani’s condition worsened, and her family took her to the hospital.

Students appeared for Exams Despite Injurie.s

Remarkably, several injured students chose to take their examinations after receiving first aid and bandaging. Two male students and one female student, however, were admitted to the hospital due to serious injuries.

Following news of the accident, a large number of anxious parents gathered at the examination center, waiting for updates about their children. Injured students were assisted by classmates as they exited the center after the exam. School authorities also extended support to ensure that the injured candidates could appear for their papers.

Many students broke down in tears upon seeing their parents after the examination.

Students alleged that the bus driver was using his mobile phone while driving. According to them, his attention was diverted, causing the bus to crash into the truck from behind.

The tragic sequence of accidents has once again highlighted concerns over road safety, especially during the crucial board examination period when thousands of students travel under pressure and tight schedules.
