Trump’s Warm Republic Day Message Highlights Growing Strength of Historic India–US Democratic Partnership
New Delhi — In a notable diplomatic gesture underscoring the deepening ties between India and the United States, US President Donald Trump extended warm greetings to India on the occasion of its 77th Republic Day, praising the enduring bond between the two nations and describing it as a “historic partnership” between the world’s oldest and largest democracies.
Marking the occasion, the US Embassy in India shared a black-and-white photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with President Trump on social media, accompanied by Trump’s heartfelt message to the Indian people.
“On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my sincere congratulations to the government and citizens of India as you celebrate your 77th Republic Day.
The United States and India share a historic bond as the world’s oldest and largest democracies,” Trump said, highlighting the shared democratic values that continue to bring the two nations closer.
The message was seen as a strong reaffirmation of Washington’s commitment to strengthening relations with New Delhi across strategic, political, and economic fronts.
Earlier in the day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also conveyed his greetings, emphasising the tangible progress achieved through bilateral cooperation.
He noted that the India-US partnership has been delivering “real results” in critical areas such as defence collaboration, energy security, and emerging technologies.
“On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my warm congratulations to the people of India on your Republic Day,” Rubio said in an official statement, adding that the partnership continues to grow in both scope and impact.
Adding to the spirit of celebration, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor shared his enthusiasm after attending the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi for the first time.
Calling it a proud and memorable experience, Gor pointed to the presence of US-made aircraft in the flypast as a powerful reflection of the strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations.
In a post on social media platform X, the ambassador wrote, “Happy Republic Day, India! Honoured to attend the Republic Day Parade for the first time — a vibrant celebration of India’s Constitution and democratic spirit.
Thrilled to see US-made aircraft soaring in the Indian sky, a powerful symbol of the strength of the US-India strategic partnership.”
Together, the messages from the US President, Secretary of State, and Ambassador highlighted the growing warmth, mutual respect, and strategic convergence between India and the United States — a partnership increasingly rooted in shared democratic ideals, defence cooperation, and a vision for global stability.
