In a significant move aimed at boosting both employment opportunities for the youth and enhancing the state’s disaster management framework, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a comprehensive plan to provide specialized training to two lakh young individuals, equipping them with the skills required to serve as fire safety officers and personnel across various private establishments.

An official familiar with the development confirmed this initiative, highlighting its dual focus on creating job avenues and strengthening safety measures within the state.

According to the official statement, the training will be organised and conducted under the supervision of the Uttar Pradesh Fire Services Department, which will act as the primary agency responsible for implementing the programme.

Besides helping address the growing demand for skilled fire safety professionals in the private sector, this initiative is also expected to significantly enhance the state’s overall disaster preparedness and safety infrastructure.

The government emphasized that with the successful rollout of this initiative, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the first state in India to introduce a structured and systematic training programme specifically designed to prepare youth for firefighting and fire safety roles in private institutions such as hospitals, schools, shopping malls, commercial complexes, and other similar establishments.

Sharing further details about the plan, Additional Director General of the Fire Services Department, Padmaja Chauhan, stated that the department has already prepared a detailed action plan in line with the vision of the Chief Minister, who has stressed the importance of making the deployment of trained fire safety officers mandatory in private sector organizations.

She further elaborated that the eligibility criteria for aspiring candidates have been clearly defined to ensure that only suitably qualified and motivated youth are selected for the training.

The training programmes, she noted, will vary in duration depending on the complexity and depth of the skills being imparted, and will range from short-term one-week modules to comprehensive four-week courses.

This initiative reflects the state government’s proactive approach to tackling unemployment while simultaneously addressing the critical need for improved fire safety awareness and preparedness in both urban and rural areas of Uttar Pradesh.
