UP Govt Plans Grand Cultural & Devotional Events at Major Shakti Peeths During Chaitra Navratri
The Uttar Pradesh administration has planned an extensive series of devotional and cultural programmes at nearly 30 selected temples and Shakti Peeths across the state during the auspicious festival of Chaitra Navratri, scheduled from March 25 to March 27.
The events will feature traditional bhajans, devotional songs dedicated to Goddess Durga, recitations from the sacred Durga Saptashati, and a variety of spiritual performances designed to enhance the festive atmosphere and deepen religious engagement among devotees.
The initiative is being spearheaded by the state’s Department of Culture with the objective of transforming prominent religious centres into vibrant focal points of spiritual expression and cultural celebration.
Officials stated that the programme aims not only to preserve devotional traditions but also to create a spiritually enriching environment that brings together communities through music, prayer, and cultural heritage during the Navratri period.
Authorities have confirmed that preparatory arrangements have already been finalised. Skilled artists, devotional singing groups, and folk performers have been carefully selected to present programmes reflecting regional traditions and devotional values.
District administrations will supervise the organisation of the events in collaboration with local governing bodies, law enforcement agencies, and civic authorities to ensure smooth and well-coordinated execution.
The cultural activities will take place at several prominent religious locations throughout Uttar Pradesh. These include the revered Vindhyavasini Devi temple in Mirzapur and the Jwala Devi shrine in Sonbhadra. Alopi Devi temple in Prayagraj, Pateshwari Devi temple in Balrampur, Shakumbhari Devi temple in Saharanpur, Katyayani Devi temple in Mathura, Vishalakshi Devi temple in Varanasi, and the Chandrika Devi and Sankata Devi temples in Lucknow, among other sacred sites across multiple districts.
Officials noted that the events are being organised in alignment with the government’s Mission Shakti initiative, which emphasises empowerment and participation of women and girls in social and cultural activities.
Alongside religious observances, the programmes will promote awareness regarding women’s safety, dignity, independence, and self-confidence.
Detailed operational instructions have been issued to district magistrates, police authorities, and urban civic bodies to facilitate efficient management of the events and maintain public safety.
Comprehensive arrangements are being made to ensure convenience and comfort for devotees attending the celebrations.
These include crowd regulation, security measures, proper sanitation facilities, safe drinking water, shaded rest zones, sound systems, lighting, and adequate seating at venues.
Considering the expected large gatherings at key pilgrimage centres such as Vindhyachal, Devi Patan, and Shakumbhari, officials have prioritised effective queue systems and precautionary steps to protect visitors from heat-related discomfort.
Additional sanitation personnel may also be deployed wherever necessary.
The state government has placed significant emphasis on encouraging public involvement in the celebrations.
Local administrations have been instructed to actively engage community groups, cultural organisations, devotional music collectives, and religious bodies to ensure wider participation and to promote a collective spirit of devotion, tradition, and social harmony throughout the festival period.
