UP Police Moves to Bring Fugitive Gangster Shariq Satha Back From Dubai
A new chapter has unfolded in the hunt for notorious gangster Shariq Satha, the key accused behind the violent unrest in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district last year.
The clashes, which erupted on November 24 following a court-mandated survey of the historic Shahi Jama Masjid, shook the city to its core.
The violence left four people dead and scores injured, including police personnel, making it one of the most disturbing incidents the district had witnessed in recent times.
Satha, who once ruled the lanes of Sambhal with intimidation and influence, is now believed to be hiding in Dubai.
Police officials say he did not flee merely as a criminal on the run — he left with a network, resources, and the confidence that distance would shield him. But the long arm of the law is stretching overseas.
Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar confirmed on Sunday that the Uttar Pradesh Police has initiated the process to secure a Red Corner Notice from Interpol.
“We are now coordinating with central agencies to ensure that Satha is detained abroad and compelled to face justice in India,” he stated.
The crackdown intensified over the weekend when authorities pasted a formal proclamation at Satha’s residence in Deepa Sarai, declaring him a proclaimed offender.
This comes more than a month after a lookout circular was issued against him. Despite multiple raids and sustained operations, Satha continued to evade arrest, allegedly managing his network from overseas.
Police sources say they have been meticulously gathering intelligence, tracking associates and assets, and tightening the circle around Satha’s remaining operatives. The Red Corner Notice, if issued, could turn his foreign haven into a cage.
For Sambhal, the move signals a step toward closure — a message that no mastermind of bloodshed can slip through the cracks forever. For Satha, it marks the beginning of the end of his life as a fugitive.
